I feel sympathy for both writer and the old lady.Writer anyway needs to be more tolerant considering the ignorance/lack of education/age related mental status of the lady. Although it is every humans duty to respect & help the elderly, the old people must not take it for granted. They must follow the basic ettiquettes. And must try to learn the manners of the places they are going, their childeren must make sure they train their parents simply for the comfort of them and others as well.We cant always take excuse of being old.Its not only Indians who grow old..but all communities have old people, not all of them behave like that. If this lady was sitting next to someother nationale, that person would have definately tagged all Indians as ill-mannered,which would bring shame to India as a whole. So its not only the writer who needs to improve her attitude toward elderly but the old people need to learn somethings as well
You were so out of patience. Right from sharing the screen to asking aloud to get you some water, she tried to connect to you. When you didn't, she got back with the meal-plate, the luggage and the purse. I would certainly put it as a funny experience rather than a grievance.
Brothers & Sisters, Please do not waste your time in listning these kins of cheep & idiot mentality people like Akhila Muralidhar. There are big crime against hummanity happing around us.Like the one in sri lanka workst than Hitler's. Climate changing, Political leaders barbarism, Price hikes, reginal mentalities, selfish mentality among common. These are dividing us like big aligators even among educated ones. When we live in this situation, Akhila Muralidhar's tavel experiance with a senor citizen who is like our mothers, is nothing big issue. Comdemn Akhila Muralidhar for her in hman writtings & mulling public opinion on it

Before you start calling her names. I would suggest going through the same ordeal.
this akhila lady does teach us all something. She teaches not to be like her. May be it is a fiction story written to render this lesson to today's busy generation by using negative psychology. If so then well done. The more we practice hhatred (i.e. either towards akhila or old lady or air hostess or Uttam Ghosh or hindi movie or even sydney) the more we will become a wrong doer eventually. Take any moollsims for example. So the moral is...where was I.. !!??

Although it is our duty to help the elderly, it is NOT their privilege to expect of us. Everybody has their own set of inhibitions. This is not about hatred but more about being respectful to fellow passengers.
