I had a 70 year old lady on a flight to US! She was also lost and had to constantly nudge me for any help. I didn't find it annoying at all. My mother has travelled alone, and I used to think that what goes around, comes around. The worst part was, this lady had been to the rest room in the aircraft 2 hours after departure from mumbai and accidentally knocked her specs off in to the disposal tray (where we throw used napkins). Poor lady couldn't see a thing. She tried her best talking to air-hostess to get her specs back. The cabin crew had a valid reason in refusing to open the trash (Can't open refuse in mid air to avoid contamination of pressurized cabin). But the way they cold shouldered the lady was painful. I had to explain her the scenes of the movie she watched after that. All I felt was Pity and not irritation. I wouldn't want my mom to be treated badly when she travels alone. What goes around, comes around!

Mani, you are correct. If you try to help anybody wanted, it is always mistaken. This lady cannot live happily, always try to find fault on other.

what goes around comes around..right.But the old people too should have the basic manners at least. In the whole story only annoying thing is that the old lady piled her plates in front of author, which must really have been a torture for a vegetarian. Its our duty to respet and be nice to elders, however its true that some of them try to tae advantage of their old age..and then it becomes annoying.Anyone would be ready to help them,if they really need it..but if they act as if its their right to trouble others, just bcoz they r old..it'll obviously be annoying.

Akhila Muralidhar doesn’t seem to be so frequent traveller. We experience such instances very often both on domestic and international sectors, she need not make big issue about the old lady. The old lady could have been Akhila’s mother as well.
Most of the airlines except AirIndia use turbulence as an excuse to leave behind the plates and cutlery in economy class for very long time, however, in Business Class the plates and cutlery are cleared even during turbulence.
