be more tolerant to elderly
by sangeetha on Dec 02, 2009 10:45 PM  | Hide replies

it is not a pleasant experience when somebody wakes you from sleep or piles dirty plates in front of you. However you need to have more patience and compassion to elderly. It is true some old ladies are very mean, but they have problems that youngsters can't understand. She might be suffering from arthritis like most old people and indeed required leg space. waking youngsters from sleep is a behaviour I have suffered from many elderly, strangers or relatives. Again they get less sleep and they might be feeling lonely or afraid. Even mental abilities declines, which affects social senses. It is not easy to be patient with some old people. Still, it is good to feel and show respect, patience and compassion to elderly. It will bring you good Karma

I agree with u , at old age a vague sense of incapability creeps in which causes tension/ or fear , which right now we dont have...so we can be confident or relaxed

This reminds me of my frequent air travels to my home town with my now 3 year old child. Being in terrible 2s and 3s many times she may scream, run in aisl, if I am little distracted she may even hit a fellow passenger. Fortunately, in all 2 & 1/2 years I have been taking her on flights, never once, I have had negative reaction from my fellow passengers. All had been most cordial, indulging her, talking nicely to her generally being aggreeable. I Hope I will never sit next to this Akhila woman, lest my darling child disturb her elisist self.

Ms Akkhila Murralidhar, you remind me of all those stiff-upper-lip jerkks that think that airplane travel is somehow very ellite & hence, you are to behave like you are in a biz meeting.

If you had taken that infinite effort to just ask her a few things you would have probably found out that she was a first time traveller going overseas. Maybe her handbag contained her passport/money that she was scared of losing.
From what I have read, I bet you would feel honoured if the same lady was a white woman.
And probably you are among those snnotty people who think that there should be no low cost airlines, so that air travel is somehow only limited to some rich people.

I can bet a 100 dollars that you werent sleeping when she "woke you up", coz when its time for the plane to land, it starts climbing down, causing loss in pressure that knock ur eardrums & wakes up the most heavy sleepers.

I hope your momma doesnt meet someone like you when she travels for the first time to Sydney.

Trust me Americans are also much more social than ppl like you. LOSER!!

Whats wrong with someone expecting not to be disturbed on a flight ? Its only us who want to keep chatting and expecting others to be interested in self absorbed stories.
