Indias poulation is its asset

Instead of trying to limit number of children, govt must encourage birth of more children. Western countries are suffering due to aging populations. China is also going the same way due to its one child policy. If less children are born now, who will pay taxes 20 years from now? Instead of such hair brained schemes, the govt should invest in the future by providing free and compulsary education and healthcare to all.

" Western countries are suffering due to aging populations"

but they have much better living conditions for this aging population, while around 80% of our population lives in shitty conditions with no or low grade education, no sanitation, people cramped together like animals fighting for limited resources.
If the resources are so limited how do you propose the goverment will provide it to a population forever increasing ? Our huge population is the reason for this, and china being able to curtail their population is in now small measures responsble for their meteoric rise in last 20 or so years.

Add to that things like global warming. the more people you have the faster, the greater the level of lobal warming if you provide them with even a half decent life.

Further most people are capable of working well into their late 60s, even 70s now days. And as techonology is developing more and more jobs are automated. INfact its the huge population and hence people ready to work for ridiculously low amounts of money (which reads that ther are ready for pathetic animal like livign conditions) that actually hinders innovation, since there is no incentive to come up with automation and intelligent processes which need fewer people.

In 5 years from now we will be having wars over water which are already starting to happen with people coming to streets for something as basic as water with limited water supply catering to a big population

Maybe you need to give this more thought ?

There is no denying that the young people of india it is an asset. However,if the population explodes beyond a certain level proverty increases...by unemployement.....which will gradually decrease the quality of lifestyle. Which in turn will be reflected in sectors such as Health, Education, Food, Social Welfare,Land......etc...,

Also, our natural resources such as Water...

See for example.. the Suicide rate of Farmers allover india... due to scarcity of water for agriculture. Farmers & Farm Land will reduce day by day due to lack of water for irrigation. Suicide rate of farmers in india is worst in the world. recently 23 deaths in 40 days.....

Think.....This is the right time to think... so that we have to reduce the suicides of poor farmers.

instead legislation should be created such that if a couple has only one kid. the kid will have scholarships, reservation, and many more in future. Couples having more than 2 kids should be punished with more taxes, etc.

How patriotic will that child be. It is not his mistake the he/she was the second/third child. This would cause discrimination.

Delaying and curbing are not the same thing. Incentive should be on limiting numbers of children and not on deferment of having them. Delayed children besides having medical problem, pose economic insecurity to ageing parents.
Further, incentive should be indirect. Reghtly said, money plus Indian = corruption, or famous Rajeev Gandhi quote; only 15 paisa out of a Rupee spent by government reaches the target.

N L Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research is a highly misleading B-School from Mira Road, Thane District.

They boast of over 30 fulltime faculties, but in ur 2/3 years as their student u wont find even 20 faculties in total...so where are the other faculties?

Plus, their brochure gives names of many companies for placement...but that includes companies for summers also....what rubbish...students want to know how many companies come for final placement at the end of the course..and N L Dalmia is hands-in-glove with AICTE...some authority should take harsh measures against this misleading B-School....the Dean and Director of N L Dalmia deliberately ask other profs to fail students in Sem II of first year, so that students find difficult to get finance specialisation in second year.....they have done it since last 10 years since they started this institute....its AICTE approval should be removed due to its false claims and danger that it poses to students careers....

Give lucrative incentives - for example, Zero income tax till the couple has no child, 50% till they have one child, normal IT when they have two kids, 150 % if they have three and so on. Assure free education till PhD for single child, free education upto graduation for second child. Charge double the fee for third child during graduation, triple for the next children.(School education should be must for all kids). Similarly have differential rates for travel, phone bills, ration, petrol, gas, diesel, electricity, water etc. If population is not controlled, no amount of flyovers, increase in agri production, electricity generation and other social infrastructure will be adequate. Population will always outgrow the efforts of the govt. A large population is an asset ONLY if it is educated, employable and productive.

My bad Why are you killing the third child by depriving him of these basic human rights? Its not his fault.... and you are killing your own argument of making a population an asset by this move!
Thnk God! The people who have authority dont think like you!
If you want to curb population curb it before the harm is done!
All know where the parents have more than 2 kids.... that mentality has now vanished from even the middle class of the society. If you go to the grass roots its only the lower middle class and lower section of the society that usually has more than 2 kids....We need to educate them and may be control them by implementing a penalty on those parents.... but no way to a kid who happens to be the 3rd,4th or 5th child!!

by chandru kar on Aug 15, 2009 09:26 PM

The awareness should be increased and turn the public in to a responsible citizen, not by paying the money and getting the work done. Ofcourse, the most important thing is that this should be implemented in all religions.
