Mallus are famous for showcasing everything for their survival. No wonder Kerala is the single most largest producer of pornographic movies. And coming from such puddle the author is no exception. I think he forgotten about no of rape, molestation cases in his Dirty's own land,Mumbai,Delhi. Shame on you people raping foreigner for their white skin. A very thought provoking aticle. i wish if more and more people could understand and come out of their stinking dogmas. But, by looking at the comments made by rediff users,one thing is certain that though India may develop infrastructure wise, as a society, we are the worst. we dont care for fellow indians (e.g. when we r driving), we dont enjoy doing our duty without that extra push(e.g. bribe or sifarish), we dont care for our elders or disabled countrymen (e.g. watch them running for buses or train or crossing the road), we judge a person by the amount of money he has (e.g. it doesn't matter where it comes frm), we are happy to appreciate NRI's good work (though he/she may publicly admit that he/she has nothing to do with india, e.g. sunita williams) by bestowing them with all kind of awards, but we dont have time to see the small small good works of fellow indians,...... the list is long. One thing which we take very seriously is that part of religion which says that if somebody says so and so, we must give our lives to stop them. We totally ignore that part of religion which says that there is god within every living being and we must love and respect everybody, it is only the god who can decide whether a man is sinner or a sage. We become gods and issue fatwas or any other dictats. I know that my posting will also draw lots of criticism but it will not change the truth.

You mentioned the same points what I had in mind while reading the article. We Indians are becoming Selfish and foregetting What India is all about. Its a place where each individual respected the other, but today we are worst than West when it comes Disscipline and respecting others space.

We need more Mohammad Yaqoots and Sidins. Perhaps then we shall all be able to gather courage to do away with dictats and dictators of the moralising, preaching and fire breathing types.

Well said Sidin! I too think about such mass-boycotting when it happens in our country. It is the mentality of our people that need to change. We proclaim the we cannot allow women to wear such and such clothes. But when we see such a woman, in a lonely area, we cannot control ourself from teasing her, making obscene comments on her, or may be doing much more heinous crime. We will attack a painter for painting nude pictures, but will gleefully take the pirated cds of all the adult movies available in the market.
It is these double standards that need to change.Our culture has survived many attacks over the centuries. It cannot be eroded just like that.
