To imagine situations one need not have brilliance of Einstein, mate. Telemarketers have excellent gift of gab. Confront telemarketer outside their profession, when they are not constrainted by their companies and ask them about such "funny ways to deal with telemarketers". Check the reaction. Will you be able to take it buddy?

Best Way

To Avoid Crdit calls...just tell the rep that you already using that credit card. So that they would remove your numer from the lid. Else they wud put your number in another queue. During next refill of number lid, they would again call you after 15-20 days.

I do not appreciate such idea frim rediff.com. Telemarketers are on a job and they do what they are hired for.
Telemarketing calls undoubtedly are annoying, there are graceful ways to end them. The suggestion mentioned in the article are childish and far from sensible.Thumbs down.

Telemarketers are also human beings
by jishith g on Jul 20, 2007 03:51 PM  | Hide replies

Please note that callers working in telemarketing agencies are also human beings, who are working on nominal salaries to make their living. If you dont like the call, say that politely and cut the call. This is so cruel!

hey...have any of you wet blankets heard about...pranks...sense of humor...good time...hello hello...laugsville calling to mopy town....

my favourites:
1. Act really dumb...keep asking them to repeat really simple stuff.
2. cut them mid sentence and ask them a question in an imaginary language.
3. Start a conversation...weather, movies watched, lovelife...

Trust me as long as you're not abusive it's all good fun..

NO ONE'S TRYING TO MOCK SOMEONE'S PROFESSION...SO FOR ALL YU HOLIER THAN THOUS...STUFF IT...

Telemarketing
by Tony on Jul 20, 2007 03:00 PM  | Hide replies

Rediff, u useless guys, stop this immediately. this not the way to takle the situation. they are doing their job and get paid for it, u r making fun of them, it is there livelihood, shame on u. Instead post ideas how we can pressurise or penalised tele companies to stop giving our data to others.

We can do one more thing to say straight away that we are not interest in their proposal and disconnect.

Please Dont be rude to anyone. Need to be polite to all people including telecallers. After all they are doing their job. Rediff should consider abstaining from publishing articles of this kind.

COMPLETELY AGREE. a few days ago rediff had an article on teaching our children to respect all jobs even manual labor and today you are encouraging people to behave rudely to a person who to reach a daily target of 150 calls might call you more than once!! THIS IS NOT DONE!!!

Stop Them!
by salil gupta on Jul 20, 2007 02:48 PM  | Hide replies

well i agree that they are innocent but moment u'll avail loan and suppose default u will be abused.
So lets stop them by harassing.
if one needs CC or loan he would definetly go to bank to get same.
world will not stop and they are not so poor that they would not able to earn their bread
everybody has potential they need to explore and excel.
No point in harassing others

Skewed view of world, Sir!
Availing loan, defaulting and getting abused is a different problem, which may not be a very fine reason. Like you telecallers are making a living and its completely legal job . U have a choice to turn them down, but politely.

harassment
by C.V.RAMAN IYER on Jul 20, 2007 02:42 PM

Yes, this telemarketing calls has helped me also in the beginning but after availing the maximum eligibility loan, I am no more eligible. so I tell them politely that I shall not be eligible for a credit card or loan, as I am overdrawn. Nowadays, many of the callers realise and hang the phone down after saying thanks and have a nice day. Those who still insists, I ask them to write a Pay Order for One Crore, come to my office for collecting documents and pan card copy. this some times works and they think we are fooling them. But it remains a fact that even after Supreme Court guideline to TRAI to devise a method to stop this harassment, telecallers are least bothered.
Telemarketing company owners mint money, these poor young boys and girls, for earning a monthly income, is subjected to abuse by the tele marketeer themselves. On the other hand, if you avail a loan or credit card and default in repayment, same or worst type of language, harassment, visiting home at odd hours, shouting at the roof top about "Aukat Nai he tho loan kyum liya - M C ?, etc. etc. and "Behen ko Bech Dho Mere Saath Paisa Nahi He Tho ! WHAT A WORLD WE ARE IN. Hari Om
