does one has to be told what to wear?
by Naveen on Aug 17, 2006 10:58 PM

these days it looks like every media and so-called trend analysts are hell bent on telling us what to wear, what is effective, what is cool, what is in, which is the place to be, which is out...blah blah blah and we look up to these puesd images created... and forget what exactly we want!!! we are an image driven generation, and this image is not our own!!! it created by some unknown/foriegn/alein culture!!!Wear wats comfortable and what U THINK IS SUITABLE FOR THE OCCASION!!!!

I dont think so
by Praveen Kumar on Aug 17, 2006 04:38 PM

Well I dont know how far this is true, but in my case I wore just a normal shirt and trouser, and I even did not tucked my shirts. At any angle it never appeared to others that I was preparing for an Interview. I was myself all the time. Today I work for one of the top software company in Chennai. So guys do follow the dress code coz you never know whats striked me that I am here, otherwise I have my own reservation on this issue

Give the author a chance
by Ritwick Sanyal on Aug 16, 2006 03:15 PM

I find some of the readers to be self proclaimed know all. Nowhere in the article did the author mention that dressing properly would take u places and not performance. Corporate dressing is important coz when u r facing the client along with ur performance ur looks also matter. How many times did anyone in IT industry face a client in jeans and T Shirt. I doubt whether any professional IT company would allow you to do that.

So instead of criticizing the author add some more points if u have. Dont bull shit the author..and i belive when anyone gives advice free of cost no one takes them..but the moment u pay for it u belive nothing can beat the advice..

Nobody asked me but ....

Hi, just thought i would drop in a comment. I think dressing plays a very impt role especially in leadership positions . Take it from somebody who is in the military. good dressing does not mean fancy labels but well ironed clothes, polished shoes a neat hair cut and a fit body. Leadership starts from here, of course with good manners and etiquettes. cos you have to prove u r better than the work force in all spheres not just brain power - then u will be followed

professional attire
by venkat on Aug 16, 2006 10:40 AM

The article was good and informative.Though the article was silent on dress for female, it goes without saying that saree is the official dress compared to salwar, since it looks more as a casual dress. Saree is formal and gives a good appearance. Half saree also aids in good appearance
