Guys ,

I am an Oracle ERP Consultant and have been part of all kindly of meetings or forums listed in the article.
Dressing is required ..but depends on the verticles .

Can we be on same page for following verticles and recommended dress:

1.) IT AND CONSULTING :
Men:
Formals without Ties (in IT services specailly)-Consulting (on Client Side -Formals with Ties with matching Shoes, belt and even a WRIST WATCH.
Women: Suit and SARI will do with adjusted accessories (Dont want to comment here ..)

2.)MANUFACTURING AND RELATED INDUSTRIES :
UNIFORM (In Companies like HONDA ..You need to be in their Uniform.) and Business Casuals.

3.) AIRLINE/HOSPITALITY/MEDICAL/ --- Every body knows well.

4.) BPO/KPO :- EXCEPT shorts and Banyans ..anything which is trendy ..enjoy guys..

5.) GOVT Departments :- Very FORMALS (But where are these jobs ???)

6.) WORKING FROM HOME (If allows or any telephonic) :- Wear whatever you want but be sure you are fresh at you mind ..be in cool and calm place with all of your Interview questions prepared at the first place (Not kiddin, actualy they help you whenever you stuck --especially in IT Telecons ).

Guys I have done .. I know I am not the expert but these are ground realities ..

Anyways this article is well summarised , one cannot ignore the importance of being professional or specific with a correct dress code ..After all you cant see Mahendra Dhoni beeting Shane Bond in a Tuxedo suit..

Waitin for replies ..

Regards
Abhishek Mishra

Corporate dressing tips in general
by kitty on Aug 21, 2006 12:07 PM  | Hide replies

Someone in this post gave a few hints on how to handle the climate and BO. From my experience, I can tell you this much; I have met more MEN AND WOMEN in the IT industry who suffer from BO/Bad Breath/Bad dressing sense or ALL 3 PUT TOGETHER. And yes, I dare to say all these things because I set high standards for myself when it comes to these things. At the end of the day, if you can't bear to sit next to the person who has the worst breath or suffers from perennial BO(and trust me, I have worked with such specimens), a dab of strong perfume is the only thing that will keep me alive and sane.

It tells you the life in silicon valley, california. THe Cisco when it was found by 2 stanford grads in a rented Garage, they were focussed on PRODUCTS NOT THEIR BREIEFS AND TROUSERS...

Reality is somethin different...these guys watch lotza movies and ad\'s and want to look like a dilomat or some biggie...Hey fools, go and look Bill gates....

Dont get deceived by these articles to drive the sales of some suit Retailer...

A good attitude, SMART brain and a CLEAN dress is more than enof to suceed....Not Raymonds and Red Tape win biz deals...but the stuff in the product...

I don't know if dressing really affects your performance or not. But everyone wants to look good. And some do not know how?
I felt this article is really helpful for people who want to look professional and smart. And for those who do not want so, they are not bound to follow this.
