Resume is just a brief of your life
by on May 08, 2007 04:49 PM  | Hide replies

dear all,
Let me share my experience with you. In may 2006, i attended an interview at Asian paints for a purchase executive position.(my dream company). i was so enthusistic that i was in heaven. I cleared intitial mathematics test; a HR guy (lowest in heirarchy) started interogating me - his questions were so irritative that i literally cried for not getting chance for next level.

The very same day afternoon i attended an interview at Sahara India. One of emininet directors of sahara interviewed me. Total focus was on functional aspects. I was instantly selected.

WHEREEVER I WAS THROUGH, I WAS INTERVIEWD BY FUNCTIONAL HEAD, NO HR INTERVIEW. Wherever, HR comes first in the picture, i was utterly failed.

I REQUEST ALL HR GUYS, MAKE INTERVIEW INTERACTIVE NOT INTEROGATIVE.

VENU

I totally agree with you Venu. I also had similar experiences of rejection by HR executives after clearing all the technical rounds.
Pity on such HR people.

all that matters is - R U FIT?
by on May 08, 2007 04:35 PM

At the end of the day, all that matters is - is he/she fit for the job. what is there if i lie that i have handled ABC project, when i can handle the job independently though i had little experience with that job? When i attend any interveiw, my heart and mind are so concentrated and focussed that i have to grab the job. That's it, no second thought. Remember " Struggle for existence". all the best

Useless Standards
by on Feb 15, 2007 03:38 PM

Dear All,

The basic point is the HR should concentrate or should have mechanism to evaluate the candidates competency with respect to the companies Job Description.

Regarding resumes they are not a Registered Certificate give by any authority it is just a self intro from the candidate. The organisation should assess the candiate for his usablity for a given job rather following some useless so called standards which only attracts these fake practices.

All Nonsense
by D Sanyal on Sep 18, 2006 07:48 AM

If a interviewer in the employer company can interview the person on what is written in the resume, all these fake resumes are exposed at that point. If the interviewer is BAD and cant interview, all these checks has to be done. So for the employers, do your homework properly - train the people who interviews and secondly make sure that the interviewers have the right knowledge to interview the candidate for the position. Anyways, background check needs to be done for credit and criminal records. But it is not required to see if the person has genuine knowledge or so.

what about the purity of the company and the market itself
by Dr Ameya on Aug 12, 2006 01:08 AM

what is said in the article is very true but then what about the companies and market itself.most of the companies do many unethical business practices and it is rightly said that every thing is fair in love ,war and for getting a job.it is the hr people who should be very carefull in selecting the right person for the job at the company.

The MNC Employers are paying 1/6 the Salary
for equivalent dollar/pound overseas job.

eg; i worked for a six fig $ job and in india
they pay me 1/4.

Faking a resume to cover some holes, shouldnt
be a issue.Hate these HR people who overlook
genuine proven candidates. Exploiting people.

They arent doing their job.

fake resumes
by sudhakar on Jul 01, 2006 06:37 PM

The article is good to hear. To practice is difficult. Iam not heralding fake resumes, but only stating stark realities. In an ideal situation, yes it is wrong to fake resumes. But in a country where you can do anything and get away and every inch of the system is fake , especilaly the system of getting jobs is the privilege of a few, where most of them get through either through the backdoor or have been able to afford a good education and get a plum job. What about the others who constitute the major chunk of the society? Shall we leave them to their fate?
Gentlemen lets address the problem at the grass root level. How rightly Karl Marx said, "when Poverty knocks at the door, honesty flies out of the window'.
So if every thing around us is ok and every other system is fine and honest, then yes it is wrong to fake resumes. So be alittle empathetic also. All the HRs are you listening?????
