This author,

What the heck. I read several of her articles. She is from IIM-A tats great but plz don't juz give advice to ppl that only IIM and IIT's are great and that engineers are fit to do anything and that non-engineers are underdogs and stuff. I am not an engineer but did Bachleor's in IT. I am now on verge of completing Masters from US and would do an ok job like start my career with say 55-60k. I was above avergae student in school and better than many who made to good colleges than me but I took wrong decisions and career path. But i want to tell u that ppl do well and it is not whether they are from IIT, IIM or an engineer only. People like Bill gates, Michael Dell and Steve jobs all CEO's are college dropouts. I say that any person shoudln't be demoralized if he didn't went to a good college but should feel if he has capability he would do it definitely...

i cent percent agree with u preeti. she is demoralizing, may be her IIMA marketing "strategy" to keep non IITians and the like wary of CAT. i am a CA and i see no reason why i should go for ONLY IIMs? and even other candidates too?

The truth about MBA
by T.Mahesh on Aug 01, 2005 03:24 PM

It is like showing a horse a pond, but the horse has to drink water itself.MBA is like a starter kit.The three letters can do magic only upto10% rest the individual has to perform based on his updated knowledge and decision making skills. As mentioned The individuals who has various backgrounds comes to MBA.The competition starts there itself and it continous till the end of the course also in the field.MBA still remains a magical word.Everyone thinks that once MBA is completed once for all everything is settled, the truth is once you finish MBA the starting will be 5% smooth comparitively to others.

No more MBA
by saurabh Mittal on Jun 27, 2005 11:49 AM

MBA is about making money. BUT how many of the richest in the world are MBAs or how many of millionares in India are carry a crown of MBA?
Laxmi Mittal, the third richest in the World is not an MBA, so how an MBA makes a difference?

Money making is all about gathering knowledge, planning and implementing your plans. People doing this succeed doesnot matter they are MBA or not. True, MBA pushed you to think organised and stepwise.

A stream called enterprenureship can certainly lead people to initiate things and be a real leaders rather than hunting for a high packages under some big brand names.

People planning to make money "THINK AND PROCEED"

Though the article is good ,I refuse to belive that engineering graduate make better managers, and CAT shouldnt be the only criteria to get in to IIM, the admission system has to evolve.Only number dosnt make a startergic thinkers.

MBA- the truth
by Deepten on Apr 14, 2005 02:18 PM

Interesting article. An MBA from a B-rung school myself, I have to say just this: the only thing which matters in the end is what value systems(hard work, discipline) and intelligence(IQ and EQ) you possess. Try for the IIMs, they are the best. But of you cant get through, dont give up. If you have got something in you, you WILL get noticed. An MBA from a good B school can only speed up the opportunity, it cant substitute hard work and intelligence. As one who has has seen the industry, I can tell this much. In the end, if you are really that good, you can beat anybody- IIM / IIT or for that matter anybody. Dont stop trying!
