 Information required on Savings (to escape from Income tax)

Hi..



Can you give me some tips on savings, ie, how can a person save his earnings, what are the options avilable to save his earnings from tax ?

I know only LIC..is there any other method of saving availble. ???

I am a retired Govt.servant and gets about Rs.8800

as pension.Should I have to pay Income-tax?

Good info, but incomplete in the sense that it doesn't show what are the heads that are considered while calculating the NET TAXABLE INCOME, and without this , this article is as good as nuthin.
