Appreciate the Qualification and Capability of Ministers
by ravi kumar on May 28, 2009 05:54 AM  | Hide replies

It is not at all in the interest of our country to divide the cabinet / ministers on caste / state basis. It is really a good choice made by congress/MMS. The writer Should appreciate the qualification and capability of Ministers first before dividing on religious / state lines. Farooq Abdullah, Ghulam Nabi Azad, E.Ahmed etc... are good and capable leaders. Remember that, there are hundreds of castes and sub-castes in India and all of them cannot be represented by individuals in a cabinet.

Why are you afraid to face facts? What is wrong with AP? Why it is deprived and no one ever mentions it?

Reasons of allocation is simple. States going to polls where cong wants to win more berths. AP Orissa elections over - so got screwed.

stop fighting over state, race, caste and religion.

media, people have to blame for fight against state, race, caste and religion. Look at the comments in the forum. As long as people like we exist, this will continue. People understand everyone can't get ministership.

Vacancy : rediff needs a political analyst
by neelendra kumar on May 28, 2009 03:42 AM

how nice it would be of rediff if it hires a profesiional journalist/column writer to write for it. It seems rediff has gone short of ideas, so has failed to raise a single good/sensible topic on its site.
First about UP Mps. we know congress in UP was in shambles, but it was rahul nd priyanka who single handedly turned the tide of votes in favour of congress and taught some lessons to both mayavati nd mulayam who were aspiring to be the kingmaker. Why to make such
MPs cabinet ministers when they dont have belief in themselves and dont have mass suport/followings(some MPs even doubted if they would garner enough votes to finish 2nd in their respective constituencies)
Second what the religion has to do with good governance or leadership/managerial capabilities. Dr. Manmohan singh is just trying to pick right man for the right job at best of his capabilities and limitations he has(the pressure of coalition politics).
Third what to do you mean by EXCEPT Mr. gulam nabi nd Dr. farooq abdullah, r they not muslims. The thing is they r in cabinet because they deserved it to be there.
Rediff seems to follow the saying (famous in News/media circles), ``if u dont get a good/hot/breaking news then create one``.

What are you aiming at
by Alvin on May 28, 2009 03:23 AM  | Hide replies

I do respect Renu Mittal's views. But i would like to disagree on the fact that he/she raised here. Parliament represents MPs. Ministers are for the country not for state. Ministers are working for the basic needs of the nation not for the vested interest of the state. agreeing to authors view, we need to have a 272 ministers to rule our nation. represting each Lok sabha contituency. Division should be taken away from your minds. Write for a united India. not for a scattered India. Many thanks

why should we divide cabinet based on caste/religion?
by Guest on May 28, 2009 02:49 AM  | Hide replies

We should give ministries to capable members who can deliver their portfolios better. Should be based on reservations. These news agents/journalists inject these kinda stuff to the ordinary people who do not think on that grounds. Did Andhra ever asked for more cabinet ministries in the center???

That is the main reason we have TDP as a party now. TDP was born as honor to telugu people (atma gauravam). Even in the BJP govt TDP has more plush ministries then now. Even the speaker Balayogi was from TDP. It is a definite shame to all telugu people and the CM to not push for more ministries.

Congress Ministry
by hasan jafri on May 28, 2009 02:17 AM  | Hide replies

The trouble with the Congress is that in spite of being the oldest political party, it really does not know the game of politics. Politics is to feel the pulse of the hour. Congress revived in UP after 18 years and should have learnt the lesson yet it has ignored Uttar Pradesh. Congress should have set aside the personal views and had worked out fairly when forming the cabinet of ministers. The cabinet should have been distributed on the basis of representation it got from the various states. Where is Rahul Gandhi who boasted he would bring development in UP. With no cabinet minister from this biggest state, how one can expect that ministers of other state will give priorty to UP for development. It is shame. Rahul is no different from other vested politicians who promise big before the election then forget what they said altogether.

I am also bit surprised by the list. States like Uttarakhand with clear sweep got only one MOS while Himachal with one seat got two cabinet positions. I see Rajasthan, UP, AP, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Orissa are treated improperly while Delhi, Karnataka, J&K are favored undemocratically.
