Loksabha Members elected from Andhra Pradesh are unable to speak fluently in Hindi.
As a result, these members are not effectively communicating public issues in the Parliament.
Government of Andhra Pradesh must train Loksabha Members in speaking fluent Hindi so that their credibility increases among their peers in Parliament.

Can Sonia talk fluently in Hindi? Why all thses people voted for Congress? Pranab says he is not PM becoz he does not Know Hindi. What debates the Congress MPs need in Loksabha? They are all there to just put their thumb impression on what Sonia says. Did not you see the N-deal debate? In fact BJP lost elections becoz they are not fluent in English.

one sided - negative article.
by jenson joseph on May 28, 2009 07:53 AM

am i the only one or the rest also see that this article is thoroughly one sided with a negative mentality aimed at creating disrest amongst the Society? Not anywhere in the article it mentions anything good about the selection process. the Author would like us to believe that there is NOTHING right about the selection process.
would you be surpised ot know that Renu is an ardent supporter of BJP? why doesnt she talk about Rahul Gandhi and how he asked his young turks to not expect cabinet berths? Congress won in UP on it's own merit, and they wont just turn their back on it.

Bad cabinet
by Saibaskar Parthasarathy on May 28, 2009 07:49 AM  | Hide replies

Ramesh Jairam may not be mass leader but a honest politician who praised Chandrababu Naidu for his work in Andhra Pradesh only to incur the wrath of janpath. He was the backroom man this time around and deserves to share the credit for good showing by congress. He is an economist and would have made a good cabinet minister. But, this council of ministers list is pathetic so no wonder he was relegated to minister of state status. On the contrary look at how BJP is using Arun Jaitley who again is not a mass leader but an intellectual. He is in the top echoleon of the party and who knows he may even pip Modi for the top job as he is a more acceptable face like Vajpayee. This time congress won more on money power and propping up strategic opponents like MNS, Praja Rajyam and Vijayakanth to split opposition vote. Still it would have lost had anti-incumbancy reflected as votes. People who were dissatisfied with the government chose not to vote and that is the reason why the wave that would sweep away all these mal-practices and yet would reflected the mood of the nation did not materialize. Today people seem to be more disgusted with democratic process rather than with the government and this is a very bad trend. Around 60% of mumbaikars did not care to vote and if all the fake votes are discounted then almost half of this country did not vote. This can only be addressed if a no vote button is set in the EVM.

Dear People of Andhra Pradesh,

Congrats at the sham treatment you have received at the hands of Dr. Manmohan singh. Last time and this time the story is no different. What difference it made by sending large nos. of Congress MP's to Lokshabha. Except for the great Mr. N.T Rama Rao nobody spoke of the Telugu pride. Why are you subservent. What Dr. Manmohan Singh has done to you is similar to the insult to Mr. T Anjiah the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Do not forget that the best man from AP late Mr. P. V Narsimha Rao had given a chance to Dr. Manmohan Singhand he has rightly kicked your balls to prove that Singh is King

Renu gives a state by state account of seats won and cabinet/MoS berths. This shows her limited thinking and inability to see the big picture beyond state boundaries. The Congress has been given a resounding national mandate so that it is free to appoint the people it deems best, regardless of where they come from in the country. Renu appears to be stuck in the era of regional-party coalitions which invariably resulted in compromised appointments of inept ministers, simply to keep the coalition together, and serving only the politics of region, religion or caste.

Unfortunately, Renu doesn't stop there. She goes on to say no Muslim has been appointed to the cabinet from mainline states. My take is that if there were no qualified Muslims, then none could be appointed. When we had a well-suited candidate in Dr. Abdul Kalam, we Indians were only proud to have him in our highest office as President.

And finally, there is nothing wrong with being demoted from Cabinet minister to MoS. Performers should be rewarded to higher positions and non-performers should be made to step aside. Renu appears to believe that a Cabinet minister position is for life. This is the kind of thinking that breeds complacency and encourages non-performance.

When the country is looking forward to progress, people like Renu do their best to drag it down. I am disappointed that Rediff lets people like her write. Is Renu better qualified than the PM of India to comment on Cabinet appointments? Hmmm...

Whoever you are and whatever your name is, you have hit the bull's eye. People tend to compare the present decisions taken with the past. They forget the difference between past and present. Thanks to a coalition government in the past, the decisions taken were to satisfy all tom, dick and harry so that they don't crib and withdraw support resulting in the fall of the government. The situation today is the exact opposite. The decision taken are based on merit, not to satisfy anyone. This is exactly what is needed and the people of the country have realised that. Well, there are exceptions such as Renu who don't look at the bigger picture and are stick to state boundaries

Your article smacks of narrow-mindedness. Judge ministers by their job, not by their religion or caste. It highlights your feudal mentality.

The citizens of India don't give a damn about whether a minister is a Jat, Brahmin or Muslim, as long as they improve our lives.

To hell with you and your ilk.

its funny you mentioned "Citizens of India". Actually majority of Indians think the same way that this author does. Its not as if the author invented the feudalism that exists in our political system today. It came into being from bottom up. Alas, people get the government they deserve.

by Desert Fox on May 28, 2009 06:16 AM  | Hide replies

Congress is the most d1rty party which indulges in casteism and religion. They have won votes based on that so they must repay it back.

This also proves how BJP vote bank was dented.

Serch some facts and then comment dude. Every body knows who is more communal the matter is some people hide it and some are ashamed. Some take advantage, some expoite it. The proble with BJP is they can not hide it. It comes on their face. Now it is up to you what you think about BJP an dcongress.

Eradication of Caste / religion columns in all public serveces.
by Dr.Gopala Govinda Rajan on May 28, 2009 06:11 AM  | Hide replies

If India were to progress, the only solution is to remove the columns on religion and caste in all application forms and all allocations must be based only on Economic status of the citizens. This is the only way by which the citizens will be motivated and do their best for the country.I wonder whether there is any sense in the proposed cabinet expansion?Too many looters in the ministry will only increase the Swiss bank deposits (black money) .What is the educational background and criminal record of the cabinet ministers ? Can they publish it in black and white ?
