Dr Shashi Tharaoor
by sarat chandra on May 18, 2009 02:57 PM  | Hide replies

This is the first instance the people of Kerala has supported an outsider. Eminement personalities like have failed. They have not only realised the status of Tharaoor but was fedup of the local politics. There was constant bickerings in both the fronts which have done nothing for the state for past two decades.

Except the last 2-3 elections, Malappuram/Ponnani seats were always occupied either Ibrahim sulaiman Sait of Karnataka or GM Banatwala of Mumbai.

It is not a surprise. Because these seats were won by Muslim League, who secured votes on communal lines. But in Sashi Tharoor's case it is not so.

good to support others!
by dranil on May 18, 2009 02:54 PM  | Hide replies

Mr. Prakash Karat has been the most inefficient communist leader in the recent past. Most of his time goes in giving interviews and adopting negative strategies (to criticise others). His wife and he thinks that they are the most and only intelligent human species on this planet. The way Ms. Karat was after Ramdev baba indicated that she is publicity hungry and has no other business. It is no wonder that these people supported Throor else who would have voted for him? Mr. Karat and his wife need to resign for ditching their own party. It is high time all communists parties take a long break from active politics and go on vacations on some hill station so that they will have enough time to see how more wrong can they go..?

by Ravi Kant on May 18, 2009 02:54 PM

Let our friends in Kerala feel happy that these jokers are DEAD. Start a new life & grow with rest of India. Ask Karats & his team to immigrate to China or go jump in Hindmahasagar.

Dr.Sasi Tharoor was best for Trivandrum and he was selected
by sreekumar k on May 18, 2009 02:47 PM  | Hide replies

This article is baseless, I have seen Dr.Sasi travelling to rural areas and slums like Chenkalchoola in heart of city, everywhere ladies were welcoming him like Rajiv Gandhi, his smile, personna, his not so fluent Malayalam but asking please vote for me , dont you? style had created very good impression among youth and women. As expected People of Kerala was fed up with CPM rule and BJP also cross voted, or the vote O.Rajagopal got perhaps from nuetral voters this time went in favour of Sasi Tharoor.
Another factor is constant canvassing of CPI people who came to our houses everyday with a bunch of goon like poeple, saying Sasi is an outsider, our man Ramchandran Nair is nearby, so vote for him only, dont you, and with a threatening look they left, I think the canvassing was outsourced to goon elements of Trivandrum by the party, their continuous pesting canvassing made even non committed voters to go vote in favour of Sasi Tharoor, who was pleasant and nice and well educated.

Muslim and Christain vote full went in favour of Congress, where as you can see Nadar votes gone in favour of Neela Lohitha Das Nadar on communal base about 80,000 votes Nadar got.

The congress workers were not enthusistic to canvass for Sasi and there were not even polling agents, we didnt receive any vote slips from Congress. Still people of Trivandrum selected best candidate, well behaved, well educated and a possible minister.

The women and youth polled for Sasi Tharoor and he won

I am from trivandrum and we started a web campaigning for Tharoor, Trivandrum people are so intelligent they selected the best candidate. they have shown this in the past, they always voted for the capable candidate, thats how rajagopal got 2.25 lakhs of votes in TVM sad that he could not win, last time we selected a man with long hair, not sure at least once he opened his mouth in parliament, parliament u cannot speak in malayalam. I strongly believe a basic english and hindi written test should be conducted for all the candidates appearing for Loka sabha..once again Thanks to all TVM people

Trivandrum people are so intelligent? Then How come you people selected a Hijada like Panyian Ravindran in the last Loksabha bye-election 3 years back , Sex manaic like M. Neelalohidadasan in 1980 and Ever sleeping Charles Nadar three times in 1984,1989,1991 .I think you people become Intelligent only this year onwards.

Mr. Sashi Tharoor win has sent a right signal for democracy. I am sure a person like him who is honest, inteliigent, charismatic and fully commited to the people of ThriuannantPuram, will do world of good, both for Kerela and the country. I wish Meera Sanyal, Mallika Sarabhai and Capt. Gpinath could have won but I guess they did the mistake of going alone as an independant. Meera Sanyal seems to me a great porspect if she can join hands with national party and fight again. She is a very smart lady. We need smart people in parliament not thugs and criminals.

KARAT- An Agent of China in India
by Indian on May 18, 2009 02:46 PM

All moves of Prakash Karat clearly outlines that he worked against the wishes of his party - many a times.
He is one of the worst leader the CPI-M ever had in India... he was working as if given mandate to destroy Communists in India.. and because of him, otherwise credible CPI too has lost.
Routing of lefts was very well known-immediately after they wehemently opposed the N-Deal with US.. while supporting same with Russia. Down Down Karat..

by Raj on May 18, 2009 02:44 PM  | Hide replies

the rediff is wring to much on this topic. Even if prakash karat would have campaigned against Mr Tharoor he would have won as Prakash karat is not a mass leader. Rediff is writing this story as if karat is a mass leader and if he would have campaigned against tharoor, tharoor would have lost!!!
CPM will ne completely wiped out from indian politics.

You are in wonderland. CPM will not be wiped out from the Indian politics. Certain setbacks during electoral battles or class struggles are always anticipated. For CPM or for communisits participating in elections in a democratic set-up is only part of its class struggle. Whatever little service party can provide under this current democractic set-up to the masses, it tries to give.

Electoral set-backs come when CPM is unable to block the propaganda of congress and its like minded parties backed with CIA, print and visual media barrons, Christian and Muslim communal foces and convey its own messages to the common people.

People will realise their mistakes soon as in the past.

I just wanted to add a point here... the Congress is won NOT because they were favourites, but because there was no choice ! In fact, this failure was bought ONLY by the CPM due to its in-fight and some strategy failures. It is also a fact that the leaders have become arrogance & lost sight of the common man ! So, if the party takes the corrective actions and bring in some harmony among its cadres, no reason why the people of Kerala should not vote for CPM again! Whatever people say about the Left, I would say they are necessary for the Indian society and for that matter any society ! Some people call them evils, then yes..they are evils but necessary evils !

And ofcourse they will not come out of those 3 states evenafter 100 years of it's existence! Sir, oratory power can't produce good governance! Example is thousands of people are going to other states of India looking for even pet jobs eventhough 30 years they (CPM) are in power!
