Mr.Trend setter do not talk rubbish,Kannadigas are the most intelligent voters of south India. Karnataka is the only state in south which is electing MP's of National parties(Say BJP & Congress) other staes, like TN,Andhra & Kerala is choosing only regional parties like DMK,TDP & CPI who creates lot of problems in smooth running of central government. Strictly speaking these regional parties should not be allowed for MP seats. Please speak sensibly.

Why you want to build mosques on tmeples. BJP is the best party which can rule India better than any other national parties. Check the BJP leaders like Advanni,Jaitely,Sushma Swaraj,Rajnath singh,Yedyurappa & his upcoming son Raghavendra etc.,

Get your facts right...
by Manoja on May 18, 2009 10:11 AM  | Hide replies

The difference between Ananta Kumar and Krishna Byregowda was about 36000 votes.

Capt.Gopinath polled about 13000 votes.

Even if all the votes polled by Capt had gone to Congies, they still would have lost. How does this reporter say that Anant Kumar benifitted by the division of votes??

Its a well known fact that Capt infact succeeded in getting the BJP votes more than the congress votes. So, Byregowda actually benefitted by Captain's contest!!!

don't care for ananthkumar win. let me make record. i have reall no idea what his contribution to state and country during his 20 years in politics. though he enjoyed minstership during NDA rules. even DMK leader would have done something better in 5 years in TN

Reason for NDA defeat
by Shankar Shinde on May 18, 2009 09:56 AM  | Hide replies

Friends, NDA lost these elections because of not projecting Modi as PM candidate. Media and some people are trying to blame him for the losses. I think one of the biggest factor was Advani's assuarance of bringing back swiss bank money. because of which all swiss bank account holders(obviously rich and infuencial people) got feared and worked to bring congress back to power so that they will be safe. In karnataka where congress was expected to win, BJP won because of compaigning of Modi.
BJP should not misread the verdict but introspect and work on strengthing the party and prepare for 2014 with NAMO as PM and Varun as Home minister.
Also in maharashtra BIJP-Sena aliance got less seats because of MNS.

Un known lady from Bellary won on BJP seat, she is unknown till her brother SRi Ramulu who is also once upon time a Goonda got elected. I am not surprised for this verdict because Karnata has history of electing MP from opposition party. Bellary MP won because of REDDY brothers who have money muscle power.

Negative campaign by Congress got them this win
by R on May 18, 2009 07:43 AM

BJP’s entire campaign was positive focusing on internal security, good governance of its state government, decisive leadership.
In anticipation of hung parliament, Congress campaign was totally negative and rested on branding BJP as communal so that they can get support from 3rd, 4th front post poll. To the surprise of everyone, Congress has comfortable majority.

Sad news for Vicky Nanjappa
by Duryodhan Hastinapur on May 18, 2009 03:21 AM  | Hide replies

Vicky Nanjappa had openly rooted for Krishna Byregowda to win Bangalore South. But unfortunately for Vicky, Ananth Kumar ended up winning. Vicky also published lists of criminal elements in BJP and how the BJP will fail in elections and stuff like that. Alas, Vicky !! You must be a very sad man today.

i don't rate Ananth Kumar as good leader. I wished he should have lost this time as well. the pleasure you living in bengaluru south is not because of any bjp or anath kumar. it was congress spend so much money on bengaluru at the cost of other party of karnataka. people in that area also vote for thier caste and for bjp no matter what other does. People are not fool to do some analysis why bjp is winning bengaluru south for last 25 years and same in case mangaluru. honestly, his 5 win is definitely not because of his work

Dependence on Modi backfired
by Rationalist on May 18, 2009 01:09 AM

BJP did a mistake of depending too heavily on Mr.Narendra Modi who is still seen as regional leader in other parts of India since his role is confined to Gujrath. Result is that BJP fell flat on their back. People of other parts of India know only Vajpayee, Advani and some others like Sushma Swaraj. Modi is tall figure only for BJP loyalists. But for the ignorant and not so well informed voters who form the chunk of the voters, Modi is still a new face as that of a beginer. Also Modi who is still in state politics cannot give assurances to people to vote for his party as he is not taking direct responsiblity of delviering as he is not present in the centre. Modi tried to sail in two boats at a time carrying BJP but only to let them down. They would be well of using more National level leaders for their campaign.

-Had it not been for Mangalore church and pub incidents, BJP would have lost there.
-Why and how?
-the real literate people could see the sinister designs of Congress here by divisive policies.
-Here in Mangalore people could sense the danger of congress when 2 or 3 congressi workers with media roped in Sene men to create disturbance in a PUB.They were all caught.
-Do you see the difference? Here people are thankfully more educated and alert.
-We all should hope people to be more alert like Kannadis all over India and see the real danger of Congress. Even kandhmal incident of Swami and Mata killings have had a congress hand in it. Go and research.
-Congress tried hard to foment communal tensions here by trying to put up a chaplin statue in temple premises.
-Thankfully the congress experimentation here did not work.
