call on all supporters
by Vineet on May 17, 2009 07:09 PM  | Hide replies

Before the shock of the defeat dies .. BJP should immediately takeup the task of those BJP supporters who want BJP to win but did not vode, by whatever reason...

their names were not in voters list,
or simply they were lazy and did not vote,
or they did not even register themselves...

Well cant you still see the truth. People have voted BJP out. Its over. Even communal hate politics have an expiry date which advani failed to see...same as he failed to see his own aging face in the mirror.

It cannot be the swan-song either to BJP or the NDA. Both will spring back to prominence and power, if BJP's aging cadre is substituted with young blood and the normally docile Hindus loose patience and stop tolerating the plot laid by the pseudo secularists to raze the ancient culture. However it is regrettable that the last committed BJP's old-guard Advani faces end of political career for no fault of his, before his wish for Premiership is fulfilled.

NDA's defeat
by Sastry Dhavala on May 17, 2009 07:06 PM  | Hide replies

BJP's poor performance is due to lack of enough young blood and exuberant youth among its rank and file. It is overcrowded with rubber-necked and pot-bellied oldies,...'effete and run-down'...and who are too lazy to strain themselves and go into people. All are arm-chair strategists averse to leave the comfort of the AC chambers in the head-quarters and reluctant to risk the oppressive climatic conditions outside. The only exception was their Prime Ministerial candidate who traveled the length and breadth of the country to campaign despite his advanced years. Now that they missed the target it should be concluded that they got what they deserved.

NDA blame game
by rajagopalan nadimuthu on May 17, 2009 07:01 PM  | Hide replies

One should rejoice that Bihar turned out to be a grave yard for many opportunistic politicians.Afte having enjoyed power for five years ,ditching cong at the eleven th hour is the most ingratitude act to the core.This will be a lesson for all fence sitters that includes Nitish also.Now he should change his mindset and stay with NDA and win next assembly election due in Dec 2010.one should learn lesson mr Karuna .From one seat in 1991 ,despite two defeats he bounced back to rule the state again.NDA should not indulge in blame game.But stay united to fight back to bring money from Swiss bank.It will give tremendous booster from the public. The BJP should move freely with muslims and make them to feel that their policy is an inclusive one .
Even this day NDA is far better than the corrupt UPA .MMS is the only honest among the several corrupt lot.Nitish should not copy Naveen and severe his connection with BJP .unlike in Orissa in Bihar it has sizeable BJP voters.RN

It is a fact stated by a political analyst on TV that only the PM of the Govt is not corrupt, but the rest of his cabinet is downright corrupt, so much so that he has not seen a more corrupt govt in 45yrs!

BJP - You can Win...Don't Give Up.
by cambridge on May 17, 2009 06:57 PM

EVERY SUCCESS STORY IS ALSO A STORY OF GREAT FAILURE.

Failure is the highway to success. Tom Watson Sr. said, "If you want to succeed, double your failure rate."
If you study history, you will find that all stories of success are also stories of great failures. But people don't see the failures. They only see one side of the picture and they say that person got lucky: "He must have been at the right place at the right time."
Let me share someone's life history with you. This was a man who failed in business at the age of 21 ; was defeated in a legislative race at age 22; failed again in business at age 24; overcame the death of his sweetheart at age 26; had a nervous breakdown at age 27; lost a congressional race at age 34; lost a senatorial race at age 45; failed in an effort to become vice-president at age 47; lost a senatorial race at age 49; and was elected president of the United States at age 52.

This man was Abraham Lincoln.
Would you call him a failure? He could have quit. But to Lincoln, defeat was a detour and not a dead end.

Modis mistake

He destryoed over 100 temples in Gujrat. Advani called Jinnah. These BJP walas should understand that M00z will never vote them no matter be the case. They should work on their core vote bank which is more than good enough to bring them back in power. If they hurt H1nd00 sentiments, they are d00med.

what makes you brand BJP as communal?
by subramanyasastry hoskote on May 17, 2009 06:55 PM  | Hide replies

I see many people repeatedly assert that BJP is communal. I also find it strange that BJP does not deny the assertion by the opponents. But, I don't find anything communal with BJP. Infact, to me, Conparty is the most communal. Can someone (who believes that BJP is communal) please come out with what actions of the BJP are communal. On my part, I think the CONPARTY is most communal because:
a) It allows - overtly or covertly - illegal immigrants from the neighboring countries;
b) It always looks at muslims as a votebank; after 60 years of independence - mostly ruled by CONPARTY - muslims are now being recognised as backward and deserving reservations.
c) Haj subsidy; Certainly State intrusion in religious affairs;
d) Reversal of Shah Bano judgment;
and endless other things.

you are absolutely right,every political party in india plays caste and religion card for convenience-however,BJP seems 2 b at de forefront-mainly bcoz of-
-deir background as Jan Sangh which had de slogan "Hindi Hindu Hindustan"
-deir deep links with "Vishwa Hindu Parishad" and RSS nd friendship wid organizations like Hindu Mahasabha-wich are clearly only for hindus,gives a sense of fear to other communities obviously
-deir harping on Ram Mandir Issue,Anything to do with Ram-all dey seem 2 care about is Ram Rajya!
-deir allies Shiv Sena,People like Thackrey and Pramod Muthalik-who have spent all their lives beating ppl (for going against "indian culture" i.e. pubbing,clubbing,wearing western clothes etc.), smashing shops selling valentine day cards and so on-who likes to live under such taliban like moral police?

overall dis is why the BJP always seems to be communal to most people,i am not a supporter of congress and i havent said all this to make BJP look bad-but the truth is BJP gives out a feeling of being only for hindus,being outdated,wanting all muslims to go to pakistan, caring only about ram and sita, wanting to build only temples, do havan and wanting all girls to be housewives like in ekta kapoor's soaps and wearing saris and mangalsutras and sitting at home. that is why it is looked upon as communal!

Honest Opinion
by Desert Fox on May 17, 2009 06:53 PM

BJP can work on the followings

1> They lack intelectuals. They can recruit Bengalis and Southees. people of Bengal should know who Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was. These intelectualls will be very handy in cabinet. Look at MMS, PC in Congress.

2> Bring people who could connect with people. For example - Vajpayee. He single handedly lead NDA to win against all s e cular forces. BJP needs people with clear image. Look at Rahul gandhi who demonstrated his Bhaiyaagiri this time.

3> Let BJP represent people from all states. Let it recruit Sardars, Jaats, Bhiyyaas, Bengalis, Southees, Marathhis. People will connect well with BJP then.

4> Buy out media. Start their own channels. Be very careful when speaking to public. Look how congis speak these days.

5> Leaders like Varun, Modi should now take background. RSS can function without being coming into news. Why can't these sanghis take a lesson. RSS is rqd or rlse India will disintegrate. But they can function without coming into the picture at all.
