The Elephant is running on the Expressway
by Xavier Chacko on May 04, 2009 05:03 PM  | Hide replies

It would be a sad day for democracy if Mayawati is to take the reins at the Centre. Though so far she has been espousing the cause of 'sarvajan' overtly, the sinister design of capturing the seat of power in Delhi is to make money for personal agrandisement. People living in palaces, palatial houses and rolling in hundreds of crores cannot be expected to move even their little finger when it comes to upliftment of the poor. Catchy slogans and quixotic projects like giving IT relief upto Rs.3 lakhs, giving rice at Rs.2, bringing back money stashed away in foreign countries in 100 days are all eye washes to catch votes. The votes of the educated cannot be swayed by building castles in the air. These leaders who come down to earth once in 5 years disappear for the next 5 years leaving the poor to fend for themselves and resign themselves to their fate. The only consolation is a couple of bottles of cheap liquor or a couple of 500 rupee notes during the election time. Unless the poor become educated and enlightened, these politicians of all colours, characters and fancy schemes would exploit them and they would always remain BPL.Mayawati's scheme of things would not work for long and once people recognize her real colour, the elephant would start crawling and she would face her waterloo.

Not only Mayawati all the leaders irrespective of Party affiliations and ideologies are doing political business. It is the only business where one does not need morality and minimum qualification. Above all a leader can contest election, if his or her Party nominates, even after crossing the age of 90. All of our 'so called' protectors and servants of democracy earns much more than the CEO of a large Corporate body. After becoming MPs and Ministers, their life style is totally changed. A Tax payers' money, our elected representatives get Bungalow, unlimited Train Travel, journey by Flight to the extent of 32 times in a year and practically everything free starting from water, electricity, telephone charges etc. When the poor are not getting even one square meal in a day, the so called leaders of working class and deprived classes are maintaining lavish life styles including foreign tours. Inside the Parliament such people always try to disrupt the proceedings for which they will get Allowance and Life long Pension. Is it democracy?

Dear Mr. Chacko,
This is not the parogative of a choosen few to rule India.
The vibrant democracy of India provides equal chances to every Indian and hence, the3re is nothing to worry if Mayawati takes the reins at centre.
Anyway, what our highly educated leaders did for the country besides filling their own chests. The government is being run on the advice of beurocrates and they only have the last laugh. These beurocrates never allowed the ruling party to formulate real pro poor policies by convincing the ministers about one or two administrative and practical problem in implementing the same in order to allow an open field for them to loot the country.
Mayawati will be the best administrator to get these beurocrats to do what she wants, without any prejudice.
The rotten politics of today is already at its bottom level and there is nothing to loose.
On the other hand, we can witness a paradigm shift in governance and might get some real good changes.
Mayawati is the best choice

Mayawati PM?Not a good choice
by simpleman on May 04, 2009 05:01 PM

Hello People,
I am a dalit(by caste)and never used any of the reservation for me.I am working in a private firm and doing well.Mayawati is no more a dalit, she is behaving like a feudal queen. Her speeches are mostly written beforehand and not understandable. Her policies are not clear apart from social engineering which didn't do any good for our country. She never said what will be her focal points to develop our country(i.e. infrastructure, education, clean drinking water, energy etc). All i heard 'dalit ki beti'.Being a dalit i felt she got the riches of kamau politics and hungry for more.Being a PM aspirant these basic understanding of country's need is more important than arresting some Gandhi for hate speech. She do not have the foresight. She has foresight about making money by kamau tactics and control society by goons like Mukhter Ansari etc.

Hi Guys,
What is the educational qualification of Mayawati? What is the average qualification for any of our politicians ? Are they presentable enough to the world community ? Any thoughts ?

Mayawati discontinued her studies from 7th class as she could not get thru the board exams. Regarding the average qualification of our politicians maximum 10 failed.

People of India should understand before electing the candidate of BSP, the leader who does not speak a word without reading like Bhaio Bahno, even press conference question is replied by reading, some of our politician are thinking to make her Prime Minister, they should think the image of our country not the personal interest.
