by chintan jhunjhunwala on May 02, 2009 10:51 PM

some days back it was a laughable idea as there was no swiss banks with any money from indian individuals.today the govt. has some confidential report about black money in some foreign banks.has the govt. made a rule not to disclose the names and keep them confidential.keeping unaccounted money syphoned off abroad is a crime and we would like the criminals to be exposed to the general public.it seems persons having deposits abroad have a special status.

Black money case: Govt has confidential information
by bimal mohapatra on May 02, 2009 10:32 PM

The government's questioning of the timing of filing the PIL is not justified. If the government is sincere in bringing to book the culprits, why then it kept quite for so long about the information that it has obtained from German based banks? During the election period, political rivals use to poke every weak point of each other. Is it not known to Congress party think tank and speech writers? Is Congress sparing its rivals on similar issues? To remind, one bright example is illustrated herewith: during the last state assembly election in Gujurat, the interim report of the Mukharjee commission, which was instituted ignoring all judicial decency, to inquire the Godra train burning, was published for no takers. Similarly, this commission was instituted just before the 2005 Bihar state assembly election. And all these were widely published in secular media ignoring basic spirit of Fourth Estate. If this is possible then what went wrong in filing a PIL on an issue very vital to economic and social development of India? Again if the government and its custodian are honest and they do not have anything to hide, they should not complain on timing and in the process giving opportunity to the general public to doubt the government sincerity. The truth is: Money is illegally stashed in the foreign banks which would have been in India for its development. Truth is: Big and Mighty politicians, industrialists and bureaucrats are the people who looted the nation and its hungry billions.

Why SC also comes under confidentiality tag.
by kesireddy sreedhar on May 02, 2009 10:27 PM

How can India's highest apex court also come under confidentiality tag. SC can take the so called list and put in a sealed cover until the final decision is taken regarding these swiss bank accounts.

NEW DELHI: Rejecting criticism of the decision to remove Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi from Interpol's list of wanted people, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday said it was "not good" to "harass" any person when the "world says we have no case".

He said the Quattrocchi case has been an "embarrassment" for the Indian government as it has failed to get him extradited from Malaysia and Argentina where courts have said "we don't have a strong case" against him.

"It is not a good reflection on the Indian legal system that we harass people while the world says we have no case," Singh told in a television interview.

I never thought LOYALTY could be so harmful.

I used to think PM and official spokesperson of the party are 2 different roles. One is to take decisions and other is to conevy what party high command says--In our puppet minister case, 2 roles are excatly the same as PM is chosing to say what madam orders him to say

Only God knows how many Five-year plans of India lay burried in Swiss Banks. I doubt it that any political party can bring that money back.
