Teesta is an ethnic Gujarati and the daughter of Atul Setalvad, a Mumbai based lawyer, and Sita Setalvad, a rural crafts exponent. She and husband JAVED have two children, Tamara and Jibran. She is a convert to Islam but still uses her Hindu maiden name.
In 2007, she was awarded the Padma Shri by the UPA Government. Teesta and Javed's publication, Communalism Combat, requested and received funds from the Congress Party, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India and ten individuals to run advertisements in national dailies attacking the Sangh Parivar, including the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Times of India ran a story claiming that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) setup by the Supreme Court to investigate and expediate the Gujarat riot cases had submitted before the Court that Teesta Setalvad had cooked up cases of violence to spice up the incidents. The SIT which is headed by former CBI director, R K Raghavan has said that false witnesses were tutored to give evidence about imaginary incidents by Teesta Setalvad and other NGOs. The SIT charged her of “cooking up macabre tales of killings”.
The court was told that 22 witnesses, who had submitted identical affidavits before various courts relating to riot incidents, were questioned by SIT and it was found that the witnesses had not actually witnessed the incidents and they were tutored and the affidavits were handed over to them by Setalvad.
The report which was brought to the notice of the bench consisting of Justices Arijit Pasayat, P Sathasivam and Aftab Alam, noted that the much publicised case of a pregnant muslim woman Kausar Banu being gangraped by a mob and foetus being removed with sharp weapons, was also cooked up and false.
A day later, the Times of India published a letter from Citizens for Justice and Peace claiming that the report in question was not SIT report but a report by the Gujarat Government. The author of the Times article responded saying "My report was based on the SIT report and not any document circulated by the Gujarat government.

Hold on Anad, one of the 14 cases is godhara train case. All cases are set to motion, so we can hope that they will end one day. Best Bakery case lasted some 2 years and hostile witness ended up in jail. I hope same will happen to Tista. It is sad that justice takes so long in India. But still, truth do prevail.

Surprisingly, except Times of India which only once covered the news about how Supreme Court appointed SIT exposed fraud of Teesta Setalvad, all media channels deliberately ignored news of such grave importance. The truth must come out. And it will come out soon. Teesta and Barkha presented fiction as facts to blow up the whole issue. Obviously their masters abroad very pleased. Ultimately Truth shall prevail and liars in media and NGOs will be exposed.

NCP in Maharashtra, an UPA constituent, had recently published a riot scene from Gujrat in its official magazine. It was later found that the scene was actually from a bollywood movie. It wont be surprising that Teesta Setalvad's version of Gujrat riots actually turn out to be a Novel authoured by her.

New York, As per my knoweldge one of the US auto manufacturer's factory still exists In Gujarat. If it feels not humanitary atmosphere in the Gujarat than why us govt do not force that company to move out of Gujarat at other part of india. But real reason is that there is always piece in Gujarat & loss of manpower hour is minimum compare to all states of India. Foreigner invests in India for making money not for loosing it.So when money cmatter comes all thing comes later.

It's a huge number for any ethinic leader in USA. Modi don't need White House for investment in Gujarat, but he needs NRIs and they are fully backing him

My great great great grandfather was killed by One Aurangzeb crony. So you see, we Hindus had a lot to suffer.Better to expose Frauds Teesta who only engineer more griefs between the two communities instead of healing.
