Once i had mentioned here that MMS is an amercan agent. Here comes the next one. He forgot that he is contesting an election in india...!!! Come on tharoor... We tvm people will kick you out soon...!!!
Everybody has to right to say his opinion. Court cannot take action against people who burn national flag, political parties who destroy the nations wealth. Is this a big issue. How many of you stand still while our national anthem is played. Now everybody whi is critizing this is playing SAINT. Correct yourselfs, rather than finding other's fault.

I do! I stand when the national anthem is played in public places and official gatherings!
That is YOUR flag representing YOUR country. EVERYONE is the US stands when their national anthem is played, irrespective of whether or not some agree with their government and government policies. Every person in the UK stands when their queen enters - even their so-called republicans who oppose monrachy.
And you sit here, morons like you, lecturing about freedom of speech and being allowed to do and behave as one likes in public platforms.
Travel around the world, and then talk about what is and what is not an acceptable behavior when one's national anthem is being played. The problem with the likes of you is that you see the world too much in YOUR TV. Semi-literate Morons like you very readily learn the protocol when you have to shake the hands of the English queen or an European monarchy, or an American senator, with your tongue hanging out in hope of recieving a pat on the head by the whities, but lecture when the same respect needs to accorded to the Indian flag or national symbol. You pathetic loser!
The problem I have with the whole thing is more with the fact that he STOPPED the national anthem in the middle. Imagine someone in another nation asking everyone to stop and start over while he gives them instructions. HE should be penalized (not jail but a centure).
Additionally, who does he think he is telling everyone how they should stand during an anthem based on norms from another country.
We Indians have the usual habit of making a mountain out of a molehill over insignificant things. If he made a suggestion, either you take it or do not take it. Why make a big fuss over it and waste time over it ?. I do not know him personally but half the writers in these columns do not even know as to what he was at the UN;some body calls him an Indian diplomat etc. He has not committed any offence by suggesting an alternative way to honour the national anthem.

I emphatically agree with you Mr Sundaram. We Indians don't have a proper sense of proportion on what we deal with. It is a pity wasting precious time over such inanities.

This may seem like a waste of time to you, but this presents a good opportunity to educate morons like you about the proper protocol when confronted with similar situation!
Indians need to learn the proper conduct and protocol in public platforms. They visit the US hundred times, but don't seem to learn how the Americans conduct themselves in public when their national anthem is played. THe Birtish always stand when their queen comes rolling in - even the so-called republicans that oppose monarchy. Yet, semi-educated, dumbass Indians think its cool to do what one likes when their national anthem is being played. If you don't want to respect the national anthem in public place during an casion, then don't attend the function - stay at home!
But, the golden rule, don't behave like Tharoor, when your national anthem is being played in public platform! Got it?

Tharoor should not be a candidate for Indian Election.. he is an outsider, has lived outside of india for much of the time, and is an international elite ... He has never been for a nation. He is a lefty who targets nationalists, and spiritual institution of india...

What more proof of anti-nationalism of the Congress do people need than the attmpt to sign the CTBT? The Congress wants to destroy the indigenous nuclear capability of the country so that it can become a sitting duck to the nefarious designs of Pakistan and China. And to divert attention from all its misdeeds, it labels the main opposition party 'communal', in conjunction with the pliant media, and wants to continue with its corrupt, inept, anti-national ways of destroying the nation. when will we Indians realise this fact? When will we be able to destroy the Congress before it destroys us???
This moron still thinks he's living in the US, and that he is an American. Indians don't have the practice of placing our hand on the chest, like the Americans do, when the national anthem is played. The moron must be completely intoxicated, or is in deep slumber and doesn't know whether he is in India or US. Somebody, please wake this joker up and tell him he's in India.
Can't believe the joker represented India at the UN.

He didn't represent India at the UN. He is an internationalite and was there in his personal capacity. In fact, He violated Indian law by unilaterally appointing himself as an Asian behalf of India, as it was Asia's turn to take the chairmanship of UN. Congress didn't protest, and threw their weight behind him. However, he was vetoed out by the US, that picked South Korean Xian (not even buddhist)from Asia.

I'm living in the US right now. The practice for "foreigners" in the US while the US national anthem is being sung, is to stand at attention while the Americans place their palm over their heart. I don't know why Tharoor suggested this. The National Anthem is personal to the country. Having said that, I don't think it should be taken legally as an "insult". That would blur the difference a real insult and Tharoor's fancy idea.
Re: Re: Moron Tharoor thinks he's American.

Yes, I was educated in the US, and am fully aware of the protocol in the US, shown by both American citizens and foreigners when the American natinal anthem is played in public occasions. Hence, it is ridiculous that Tharoor, an educated man and allegedly world traveler, should even suggest that Indians conduct themselves as Americans when the Indian national anthem is being played, in India. Each country has its own protocol on how to behave when their national anthem is played in public. For example, the British and Aussies don't place their hand on the chest when their respective national anthems are being played.
This sudden imports from America by semi-educated nut-bags like Tharoor, who seem to have developed identity crisis all of sudden from their short stay in the west, is quite pathetic, wouldn't you say?
Having said that, this is certainly not a big issue, because it is not as if our Persident or the PM did something absurd like this in public - Tharoor is an insignificant insect - but still, such incidences provide perfect opportunity to educate other Indians about the proper protocol to be maintained when our national is being played in public occasions!
