this is ridiculous
by Sriram Subramanian on Mar 23, 2009 09:37 PM  | Hide replies

the worst abuse of the law I have found in ages.. Shashi tharoor who has served our nation so much has been accused of 'adopting a WESTERN way of respecting the anthem'??? How does it matter? And how is it a violation of the law? The spirit of the law should be the main consideration and not the letter of the law.. the spirit suggests an expression of respect towards the anthem... This is how law-abiding citizens are made into criminals while the real criminals out there get away scot free.

You should probably tell this to Shahi Tharoor ...he thinks that there is only one way of respecting the antham...which is a bunch of balony. He should have just did what he is comfortable with ant not urged the audience to do what he believes in. Only losers think that way

I think the point is that he interrupted the anthem midway and then proceeded to "educate" the gathering on the "correct posture".

Self-righteousness does not get any better than this. Imagine interrupting the national anthem and then lecturing on how to respect it!!!

Idiot. The only thing that is gauranteed is that Tharoor himself will lose a ton of respect as a result.

Contest in Trivandrum
by Prakash Narayanan on Mar 23, 2009 09:33 PM  | Hide replies

Guys the real contest in TVM is between the Ramachandran Nair of CPI and Krishnadas of BJP. Tharoor will be put it in dustbin, for sure. This chocolate boy is nothing but a obedient school kid of sonia. These types of foreign kids shuod be sent to their itself because there is nothing "indian" in them.
See this example itself.

Both Nair and Krishadas will poll 2 lakh vote and will be a tight competition there. Tharoor may get a maximum of 1 lakh vote.

People of TVM will send him back to UN wish list team soon...!!!!

This is the guy who recommended Bharath Rathna for M.F.Hussain, as if this hussain did great contibution to India. Clearly it shows that Tharoor is one of those psedo sickular anti-hindu intellects who are against nationalistic principles. No wonder he preferred to interrupt the national anthem for his vested Western interest.

Taroor will taste the insult of Indian politics
by Ladoo sab on Mar 23, 2009 08:34 PM

Taroor will be defeated by congress men alone in the first contest. Even before he become the candidate lot of public uproar against him. Congress men are greedy and they never support an outsider.

This election will be a good lesson for him about Indian politics. His opponent Pannyan won the bye election comfortably.

Taroor has to find out Indian politics is much more than a toothless tiger like UN !!!

Not an issue!!!
by Raj on Mar 23, 2009 08:08 PM

There were certain instances that the national flag were used in many places where it was not supposed to. But then the Court has ordered that it is not a problem since those were good activities. So in that way it is also not a problem. It is not a violation. When he hears the national anthem, and he really feels that he sense it with his heart, then it is never a bad activity. I dont know whether he really meant it or not. People should learn to think about the country with their heart in India. No judge can think of people in India that way. They can only go by books. So some others take the advantage of it. Perhaps he must have done it as election-season activity. But I dont think it is a bad thing that people keep their hand on heart while hearing the national anthem.
