Indian Media
by Akashay Agarwal on Mar 19, 2009 03:59 PM  | Hide replies

Indian media has played a big role in ruining the politics of India. Trying to sensationalize every bit of news, they have created a joke out of Indian Politics. Shame on the Indian Media. Even though US media might be termed equally bad, at least they are serious and give equal say to the parties.

Change the way elections are held
by India Lover on Mar 19, 2009 02:52 PM

Make a simple change to the way elections get fought. No one can contest elections unless they contest 10% seats in 10 states. This way all the Independents are out. Which will leave things much cleaner. Most of the smaller 'junk' parties will also be automatically disqualified, and the battle can then be fought between the bigger parties who can take better decisions when they dont have to worry about appeasing smaller parties. Dont care if it is UPA or NDA as both are two sides of the same coin. But thugs and communists would be shown the door.

Difficult task before the electorate in 2009
by CHANDRA KORADA on Mar 19, 2009 02:01 PM

India has to face challenges in all fronts, be it economic, internal security, threat from Pakistan's Terrorist outfits, Scheming China, Easily misguidedly US, weakening all-season friend Russia, ever increasing mouths to feed, environmental challenges, historically political corruption, ever increasing energy requirement etc etc. To guide the country thro' this lethal combination of negative factors, we require first and foremost an honest person( Ex Manmohan Singh) who can set an example for generations to come, an independent person who can assert his position, an astute Nationalist, has enough clout who can garner member support in LS during passing of bills by voting etc. Can we find such politician in the ensuing election? If we can, the next century belongs to India

Another option could be that any party getting less then 5% votes in 5 states will get disqualified from all seats and those votes will be declared void. But this is wrong as we lose votes. So first option is better.

The constitution should be amended as below :

a) People should be allowed to vote directly for the post of "Prime minister" along with the political party they wish to vote.

b) The Prime Minister has to be essentially from the Top 3 parties (in terms of seats won).

c) The PM aspiring candidates names should be announced by all parties before election.

d) Strict minimum qualifications for the post of PRIME MINISTER like Education Qualification, No criminal record etc.

Let there be some hurdles which these cheap politicians like Laloo, Maya, Mulayam, Karat, Develowda, Jayalalita, Sharad pawar cannot overcome..
