Is there any political party ready for this?
by Bala Ganapathy on Apr 18, 2009 02:05 AM

Abolition of caste is a major thing which can track the economy in the right track, also this becomes a route for caste politics to take roots in our country. As said fire to kill fire, start a new caste - "No CASTE", and a reservation of 10% for the academic year
in all colleges effective this year, every aspiring parents will try to fit the child into the reservation and so soon will start converting, and it should be made legal that once changed to a NO CASTE cant gain his caste status back.

Also increase the reservation by 3% to
5% every academic year and so in a max of 20 years caste will be abolished, and if it doesnt come at academics slowly in marriage market also it will fade away, atleast our next generation can yield the fruit of a human relationship and reduced distputes arising out of Caste and caste politics. Will any party be ready to implement this as a challenge. Suggestions are welcome.

THERE ARE COMPANIES THAT DO NOT ALLOW ITS EMPLOYEES VOTE..
by JaagoreIndians on Apr 18, 2009 01:25 AM  | Hide replies

Supreme court should remember that there are various factors that validates the mandatory voting... I would like The Honble Supreme Court to take note that there were several employees of Private companies(Several Co, were caught in Hyderabad running offices on voting day)who wanted to vote.. however they were denied vote because of compulsion at workplace... and also there are several other people who have taken a paid holiday and yet not voted.. which means that they have note done the justice to the money that have enjoyed that day by not voting... and therefore The Honb'le Court instead vote for the compolsory voting for any elections held in the land. Sincerely believe doing otherwise tentamounts to say that citizens of India need not vote.

Also there are number of instances that MNCs/Pvt companies do not go for Indian holidays.. to an extent it is not possible for the companies to work in line with Indian system. However having said that the Hon'ble Court should interviene atleast the companies declare a compulsory holiday on Independence day and elections day...otherwise in no matter of time Indian citizens living within the country would forget that they are Indians... that they have some history and there is a independence day, also importantly there is need for electing right set of people on an election day to rule this country...

Plead the hon'ble court to look at the facts..

i have an idea
by prashant on Apr 18, 2009 12:32 AM  | Hide replies

what we can do is:
At polling booths there should be a computer or system of computers.
now anyone at his home or anywhere should have a computer BUT "there should be WEBCAM at both the sides".Now the officer at polling booth will see him and check his photo in his list.

the officer will also check his votercard by the webcam and match with the list.

then there should be a programme such that the person's vote is feeded in EVM.

please reply guys how is this idea.futhur we can do corrections in this.

With physical changes in appearance due to various causes, eg age, hairgrowth or lack of it, medical reasons, etc it is difficult to match photos from close, how effective can it be viewing on TV/ in camera? Anybody's guess. Also integrity and aptitude of person supervising is to be seen.

Welcome to the world of net hacking. Welcome to the world of DDOS. BY simply hiring a server of 100$ you can jam any goddamn computer for days. for what you are suggesting, their should be a biometric I-card for each individual. If biometric regognisation is provided by GOI, then even installed applets like ATM machines can also be used for voting with a minor tweak and with all possible security. Only thing you will have to ensure is the integrity of server storing all options.
Till then this idea is cold.

no need of 1 billions webcams.
you can go to cybercafe or to your friend house who has a webcam.
if you do not find it go to the polling booth or finally dont vote.

its not compulsory.
however this will increase the voting percentage definetly.and city people will also vote.

Mandatory voting - Congress can't afford that - they would lose
by Hindustani on Apr 18, 2009 12:24 AM  | Hide replies

Congress will lose miserably every time if voting is made mandatory bacause then all 80% hindus will vote against them and congress will get only 20% mu$$l1m votes. That is the reason they don't want mandatory voting.
Anyhow this time they will lose miserably because of spineless MMS and illetrate outsider S0n1a.

The apex court is right
by mohammad vazeeruddin on Apr 18, 2009 12:21 AM

The Supreme Court has done well to dismiss the plea to make voting compulsory. Before talking of introduction of compulsion in voting, the nation should ensure that every eligible voter gets to vote, unlike during the first phase of the current elections when eligible voters who found their names missing from voters' list made a bonfire of the voters' list, as in Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh. There would appear to be Tughlaqian logic behind pleas to force people to cast a vote they do not have!
Alternatively, it is like the Irish bull that said while the first floor of a building could be left untouched the ground floor should be demolished! The nation applauds Kerala and Lakshadweep for registering a very high percentage of voting; but should the nation not realize that the percentage would have been nearly as high in the rest of the country if all eligible voters had been provided with votes? mohammadvazeeruddin@rediffmail.com

Mandatory Voting.
by Rahul Singh on Apr 18, 2009 12:13 AM

We as voters are more than keen to exercise our vote but if the system itself is defective and full of loop holes then what I and CJ can do. Many enthusiastic voters were turn away since their names did not show up in the voter`s list. This is inspite of the sufficent time given by election commission to the state governments to update the voters list. Many did not receive their EPIC. To me all this looks a hoax and an eye wash. Still rigging, booth capturing, impersonation, under age voting is prevelant in our elections. The result is 40-50% out of elligible voters come to vote. What democracy is this??? What happend to the Form 17 (none of the above) option where a voter can exercise if he/she feels none of the candidates deserves their vote.

by ImDharmaraj on Apr 18, 2009 12:10 AM

Why can't government pass mandatory voting law? If wearing helmets is mandatory, if having auto insurance is mandatory, if having ticket while traveling in a train or government bus is mandatory, why can't such a basic duty like casting the vote not be mandatory? Does Supreme Court need data for all this too?

Internet Voting leads to free rigging and security of the individual is in trouble. Govt can't provide security to every body. Hence Internet Voting is not feasible.

trust me, a determined hacker who wants to get into your accounts can surely have access to your rights, without your or the bank's knowledge. Organizations or groups which do these things are not interested in your personal money. They are into something big. Also do you know in many banks in countries like US, mobile banking is not enabled?
