I think this is the biggest difference between the Congress and the BJP. If you conduct any poll on the web, BJP trounces Congress by three to one. BUt in any real elections it loses to Congress. As one commentator noted, BJP is the party of the elite (aka the Brahmins and upper castes) who have a vested interest in propogating and perpetuating orthodox Hinduism because that preserves their position. If you listen to Mayawati's speeches she rips into BJP for it's upper caste structure. The only backward caste guy from BJP in UP, Kalyan Singh has left the BJP. The BJP thing about BJP being so focussed on the elite (remember the 'india shining' campaign in 2004) is that BJP can celebrate on the web while Congress celebrates on the ground. Messages on this message board never exceed a couple of thousand on the best of days, while the elections are decided by millions of people. Advantage: Aam Aadmi !!

It is not worth to compare Khandhar issue with Mumbai attack. Mumbai was not a hijack issue, but a fidayyen attack. If UPA Govt. had sent commondos, then any Govt. should have done the same. But the way the Commondos were sent, everyone knows. It is not secret now. Lot of time was wasted. Therefore, UPA Govt. had failed in logistics totally. Even the Navy Commondos were present in Mumbai, which were not also used timely, instead of waiting of Commondos to be arrived from Delhi. Had been the logistics system properly utilized, then many lives should have saved. The admission of Pakistan about the involvment of its own people for the firt time cannot called winning diplomacy. What next ? How the Pakistan can be handled after its admission ? How the terrorism can be dementle from Pakistan ? This acceptance is only an eyewash, nothing more than that. Pakistan had already stopped its further investigation. US is giving loan to Pakistan. Still if UPA claims, that they have won, then the day dream should be stopped immediately.
