2002 - Gujrat Riots - 1180 people were killed in the violence - 1013 Muslims. Another 223 people were reported missing, 2,548 injured, 919 women widowed and 606 children orphaned.About 100,000 Muslims were in relief camps.

In Naroda, according to Human Rights Watch, at least 65 Muslims were killed, many of them women who were sexually assaulted by violent mobs. One of the witnesses testified before the Nanavati commission that that BJP leader Maya Kodnani, Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi and others led mobs on February 28 in the Naroda-Patia area.

Fourteen people, including women and children, were killed by a mob at the Best Bakery in the town of Vadodara on the night of 1 March

The leaflets urged the Hindu reader not to frequent Muslim-owned restaurants, work in Muslim-run offices, hire Muslims or see films starring Muslim actors; they further assured the reader that the boycott would "throttle these elements. It will break their backbone. Then it will be difficult for them to live in any corner of this country."The economic boycott and "pressure from Hindu radicals" caused fewer employers to re-hire returning Muslims. No group claimed direct responsibility for the leaflets but a senior official of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) was quoted as saying he was "in complete agreement with whatever is propagated through them."

Gujjus decide or allah will decide.

NARENDRA MODI is the only leader who talk on behalf of Hindus and do good help to Hindus and unites them irrespective of caste system. But the remaining BJP leaders are selfish and maintain their caste culture. Only Modi was the only leader successful in Hindu Ideology.

What congress has been doing????
by RonyRide on Apr 04, 2009 10:41 AM  | Hide replies

If congress doesnt have enough reports of the poverty in India, then on what grounds it is getting ready to fight his elections ??...Jairam Ramesh should answer this question...

1. On the grounds of increasing corruption ??..one need not have the data of corruption...go to some govt office in delhi or somewhere else...u will find how u will be tortured for bribe..
2.On the basis of increase in terrorist activities ??
3. On the basis of not hanging Afzal Guru
4.Onthe basis of increased prices ???? which poor cannot afford ??
5. On the basis of forming a mini bangladesh in assam ?
6. On the basis of letting quatrochi run out of india ??

I think congress's campaign incharge is not aware of the fact that Bimal Jalan, the former RBI governer is an educated person. Why din't he react to Bimal Jalan's comments ??? because if he takes up an argument, the facts will be out. Whereas he can project Kulkarni's comments as politically motivated.

So this clearly shows how congress has been ruling India. They dont have enough statistics of their won performance in the last 5 yrs.

All that congress knows is to bash Hinduism, oppose BJP, try to appease minorities and forget them after elelctions...and praising and slavery to an Italian

Below poverty line.
by Kamlesh Shah on Apr 04, 2009 03:47 AM  | Hide replies

As Congress & BJP manifesto declares to give either wheat or rice at Rs. 3/- & Rs.2/- per kg repectively for the family of below poverty line. Now my question is that if you do not have a record of below poverty line than how you going to give this ration to poor or it will going to the pockets of food minister & fair price shop dealer government servants OR it is a big gafala to make people foolish for vote.

Kamlesh Shah! You have asked a question based on logic and practical application. Since when have these two considerations become the burden for politicians, or their parties! One expects everyone to know a political manifesto is a periodical document released to display the Political Party's contempt for the electorate. Why should it be related to logic or reality, when it is not intended to be implemented. Our contempt for the politician should not blind us to the fact that these people know that implementation of their manifestos will only lead to economic disaster. No Sir! Manifestos do not need to relate to facts, because they are not intended to be imlemented!

No poverty data in a poor nation?
by Sachin Purohit on Apr 04, 2009 12:23 AM  | Hide replies

So the sum and substance of what Jairam Ramesh is saying is that, under this current regime, they simply stopped embarassing themselves by publishing poverty data that would reveal the truth about their "aam aadmi" promises. If what Jairam Ramesh is telling is the truth, then he needs to explain why the NSSO stopped surveying and publishing the poverty statistics since 2004-05. Is it that the poverty has been completely eradicated in India in 2004 or is it that the data tells so much of a horror story that it can not be published?

No NSS data on poverty, Jairam rebuts Sudheen's claim
by Hebbar R on Apr 03, 2009 10:34 PM  | Hide replies

Congress has a responsibility to tell the nation why there is so much poverty in India, inspite of all the "great"programmes and slogans that they have raised (viz Gharibi hatao, Aam Aadmi etc). After all the Congress has been in power(often with sufficient majority in Parliament) for a major part of the last 60 years.

Please re-elect the Congress. This will give a fillip to population control as by passive encouragement of terr-or attacks against the country, the Congress will ensure that the population decreases. Many citizens will loose li-ves in the att-acks, while those who can emigrate will do so. Having taken care of the population problem, the Congress shall ensure that the social tensions between hves and have nots become a thing of the past in India. Economic debacle shal make India a basket case, and lead to flight of industry and capital. Of course then there shall be no 'haves' other than the Congress leaders and their kith and kin, but do not worry as most Congress leaders have their children settled in more 'salubrious climes' or maintain good connections with safer lands to where they can fly away should things get a little 'hot' here. And you know, people somehow think that essentials are for the common man- with the galloping prices they will soon learn that 'essentials' are commodities only to be enjoyed by the 'haves'. More importantly the question of @ppea$ement will not arise as a couple of more terms of Congress rule is all that is required to convert the present majority to the future minority c0mmunity, and with the preent min0rity community becoming the maj0rity, a very democratic rule of the only the maj0rity shall be established.

The Congress also believes in not changing the world perception of India as a 'slumd0g'. Imagine if it did change how would a film like Slumd0g millionaire have won the Oscars. So the Congress will always continue the process of depositing Indian money in Swi-ss banks, so that while the Swi-ss economy and by extension Europe continues to prosper, India can remain p00r. The Congress does not want to change the established global order- so please do not pay any heed to the clarion call of up-starts like LKA who ask for the return of money from Swi-ss banks for the development of infrastrucutre in India.
