Jaya deserves the loss
by Kumar C on May 12, 2006 06:54 PM

She din't do anything to Chennai or TN. She refused to meet Industrialist, Businessmen, Investors, VCs and all the people who expressed interest in the state. The state lacks bigtime on the infrastructure side when compared to other states in the last 5 years. She has put all the Central Government projects on hold and she is totally non cooperative.

The reason she lost is not because of the Color TV promises or 2Rs rice crap. She lost because of her arrogance, unapproachability, non-cooperativeness, and Ego.

I strongly welcome Karunanidhi and Stalin winning the TN elections and they have proved it before (1996-2001) that they will be much better administrators than the "ignorant", impotent and corrupt Jayalalitha.

About Jayalalitha's defeat
by priya on May 12, 2006 06:52 PM

It's actually the mistake of her leaving vijayakanth alone so that she got refined. Moreover it is going to happen true that in the next 5 yrs people will get surely mad of kalaingar's rule too. It's tamilnadu's fate to have alternative rule of DMK and ADMK. Instead either lokpatrian party can be invited or any youth can b invited.

jayalalitha loses the Nadars votes in south districts.
Because, jayalalitha and her friends gives lot of stress to nadars community.
1. venkatesha pannaiyar murder.
2. Aladi Aruna Murder.
3. Nadar\'s society one of the economical power in the state. and jaya and sasi gives lot of trouble to them business.
4. AIADMK supports only sasi\'s Costs.

Why Jayalalithaa lost
by Shyam on May 12, 2006 04:42 PM

On performance front AIADMK govt had done well. But Its campaigning was wrong. Instead of highlighting the preformance of the goverment which any ruling party should do, AIADMK fell for the bait which DMK front was throwing at it in the form of announcing freebies.
If AIADMK wanted to give out any freebies it should have done so about a year back while it was in power. Secondly it should have roped in party like PMK in it's alliance.
In 2001 DMK lost inspite of its good performance. Now it is the turn of AIADMK. Anyway AIADMK need not worry, DMK will have a tough time in taking some bold decision becuse it is dependent of non prograssive party like PMK and Communist for its support. There is a possibility of the state going for polls within 2 years.

Why did she lose
by Arun on May 12, 2006 02:54 PM

The DMK chief has been clever enough to understand the psychology of people of tamil nadu. No wonder he had included the idiot box (TV) in his election manifesto. Is it disheartening to know that an idiot box has played a major role in deciding a state's future. This shows how much he thinks for the good of the people. already when the society is facing enough problems with the younger generation getting more and more addicted to TV everyday he is added fuel to fire by proposing this in his manifesto. But hopefully if he doesnt keep up this promise too as he has doen always then it wouldnt affect much. Probably thats why none of the social activists too reacted for his manifesto knowing fulling well that there is less probability that he might keep up his promise. First time i pray that he really does not keep up this promise.

Because this would set a very negative trend in politics and the CM seat would eventually became an advertisement campaign where the product with less prive and more offers would become the eligible candidate.

TN election results
by sbhujanga on May 12, 2006 01:25 PM

Media should refrain from rediculous analysis of poll victoires or defeats. Our mediam never remained balanced and matured so far.
Pointing out religeous sentiments, caste setiments as cause of failure or success makes no sense rather adds fuel to the fire.
Media has the moral obligation and responsibility and has to behave so.
Equally rediculous are our political party mennifestos.Under all circustances the looser is always a common citizen and the state but never the politicians and their cacus.
If our media really has dedicated jounalism for public cause let it focus on educating the politicians and their cacus and turn them in to good politicians with real stateman ship.
I do not have much confidence in our media under present circumstances as media is the toy of politicians as they command the show of media operation.
I trust this will not be treated as un parliamentary article for publication.

Jaya Has not lost the race
by Uma on May 12, 2006 01:23 PM  | Hide replies

The only mistake made by Jaya is leaving Vijayakanth alone... moreover he has not accused her directly...
Gaining 7 Seats in chennai shows that how people of chennai are loyal to her. we are here to support you.
Its not a huge loss, we can bounce back at any time....
Infact all the poll results were in favour of AIADMK, but Karunanidhi played a vital role by fooling her with his Election Manifesto( as said by Chidambaram, its the hero made the herion to loose her thrown)... Whatever may be the Karunanidhi's Freebies, she should not have announced free 10 Kgs rice, Thalli, Computers (Its all like tit for tat)... These things made her to loose in this election. instead of announcing freebies, she should have said that it is not possible by Karunanidhi.
Anyway sitting with 70 MLA's in the opposition is a great honour to her. She will do the best in Assembly and hope she will go to Assembly not like Karunanidhi................

Hope for the best

well even Hitler was bold and courageous..this dsnt mean that he was dynamic and good leader. Jaya totally lacked professionalism and leadership qualities. And by the way..AIADMK also promised lucrative freebees why dint the people vote for AIADMK ?

not a defeat for amma
by venkat on May 12, 2006 12:37 PM

Elections results in tamil nadu indicate that it is not a clear defeat for amma. becaz, karunanithi fought election with sonia, PM, Ramadoss campaigning, but she fought only with vaiko. still kaligner could not able to get clear Majority 118 of his own (DMK alone). but every time in TN there will be landslide victory for one side. this time it is proven wrong even with mighty alliances with DMK. In addition to this amma could able to win 7 seats from chennai which are considered as DMK'S forts. Finally, Kalaigner may not be happiest person and not that easy to run the minority govt.
