Elimination of poverty
by C.S.Nayak on May 20, 2004 05:19 PM  | Hide replies

Dr. Singh is repeating the typical COngress slogan of Elimination of poverty. The congress have been in power for most the time since independence. And they eliminating poverty and spreading literacy. 50 years and crores of rupees were not enough. I hope Dr.Singh means business this time.

As far as communal problems of this country is concerned the only difference between BJP and Congress is that - BJP does not hide it's ideas behind a facade and the Congress practices divide and rule policy wearing the garb of secular party. One only has to look at the records of riots and the policies followed by the previous congress governments.

The only minority people in this country are Indians. THere are muslims, Hindus, christians, sikhs, dalits, etc. Very few Indians.

At this point what we really need and badly need is to be simply treated as Indians. The citizens of India.

Ramanthan
right man
by Ramanthan on May 20, 2004 04:52 PM

Dr. Singh is the right man to lead India. He is one of the visionaries. Along with the other (President Kalam), they can make a great team and build greater India. However, I am deeply worried about Laloo et al. and they are certain to spoil the nation. Though I am elated, I am not sure of the future because of the characteristics of his partners. Unlike previous governments including the congress, hope the present one does not encourage riots in any form. Dr. Singh can very well feel the plight of victims as he himself must be feeling the pain of anti-Sikh riots (I wonder why only Gujarat riots have been raised time and time again and not abt. the riots when the congress govt. was in power? This shows that people have short memory). He would certainly be knowing the architect(s) of anti-Sikh riots and must be punished though (t)he(y) may belong to his party as well. Will that ever happen in India and even when

Dr. Singh is the PM?

Reforms re-form viewed keenly
by Sahil arora on May 20, 2004 04:15 PM

It was wonderful and pious words that enlightened the speech of to be PM and economic craftsman Dr. Manmohan singh but the biggest question is will he get free hands to work his way????? Speaking through for half an hour showed the character and vision of the man but even great Bhagat Singh could not fight evil (Britishers) when handcuffed!!!! Hope that our next PM wins the economic battle against all odds in style!!!!!
