Our opening batsmen must learn to hit over the in-fielders' head
by anand datar on Apr 01, 2016 12:31 PM

It is T20 and our opening batsmen must learn to hit over the top in the first 6 overs ! We are lacking in that.

Whereas Ashwin and Jadeja almost won us the match. :-)
Bumrah made the mistake of bowling poorly to Gayle but our spinners put us back on win path which Rahane had diverted us from. :-)

Toss made the difference
by Mike Teflon on Apr 01, 2016 11:47 AM  | Hide replies

It was a bad toss to lose. There was too much dew and spinners have been rendered ineffective.

India ran up a good score at 190 . Thanks to Virat, Talent sharma, Rahane and Dhoni (He ran like a hare along with Kohli)..

It was toss and toss alone that made the difference. It's just the nature of the sub-continental conditions. Time to move on..

Correct. If not for toss Aus would have been in semis.

It was a vital toss no doubt but Indians bowled poorly, infact very poorly. Dew could affect your spinners but what about your quicks? Except Nehra, everyone else was completely at sea. If you lose after scoring nearly 200, it clearly means you have performed very badly in one dept & that is bowling.

The ball got wet. It was difficult to grip, even for pacers. WI would have met the same fate had they lost the toss.

Blaming bowlers may not be too wise, brother.. Anyways, it's history now. Congratulations to West Indies!

@ Mike,

Tell me honestly if West Indies batted first & scored these runs, then who would have batted out of their skins to score these runs apart from Kohli ?

All our other batsmen are only IPL wonders. Sharma never score while chasing the target, Rahane can't go beyond run a bowl. Raina, Jadeja are plain useless & nothing to even speak about & Dhoni could not score aggressively, have you seen a significant inning from him after that 2011 world cup final while chasing ????

So, toss, pitch, dew etc, can affect to very small extent but can't be call as a game-changer.

The main culprits are our slow batting, inability to hit fours & sixes when it mattered most, our wayward & too much defensive bowling, our wrong length ( mostly good-length & short length which is a crime at this pitch ) & lastly our indiscipline with no bowls & catches.

If you consider dew at Wankhede as a factor, then what was the factor at Nagpur where we lost on square turner there was no dew there.

Why we ALMOST BUT LOST to Bangladesh at Bengaluru? There was no dew there.

So all these are excuses to tell to satisfy ourselves & hide ourselves from the FACT that WE PLAYED BAD CRICKET.

calm down bro, it's a mere game. It's NO life-or-death situation. You can't expect to win every match.

Cricket teams can suddenly go outta form en masse. It happens. We cheered the same team in Asia cup. Now, Shikhar and Rohit suddenly went outta form.

We still cheer for home team outta patriotic emotions. We don't celebrate our team's loss as some guys do it here. It's just 3 hours of entertainment. We should not attach too much importance to it.

However, I agree that we don't show the same dogged spirit as that of proteas and Kangaroos.. It's all in the game brother..

Let's move..

Dhoni thinks tat every time he can have hardik pandya bowl medium pace half trackers n get away, tats wrong.if Ravindra jadeja, nehra, pandya are ur main bowlers ur bound to suffer. The way we were thrashed with just 3 wickets lost means tat even 220 would hve been chased!
