Perfectly said Sir Botham. IPL was / is never a serious tournament. Just an entertainment. Created on the lines of European football one game home -one game away pattern has not been able to show any class. Must be discontinued
Yes he is right. IPL has to be banned. Because of this cricket is no more a sport now and players are nothing but horses in the race. We can not compare foot ball to cricket. Even with league culture foot ball has remained as a sport. But same is not true with cricket, IPL has become only venue for crooks to convert their black money to white and cricketers to slaves to the owners and loss of huge effective man hour because of people who watch it. Cricket has been reduced to money spinning and glamorous collage
Someone should ask Sir Botham to raise voice to call off EPL - English Premire Legue (Football). This is pure jellousy, since India was the first Country to initiate such league under sports like Cricket.

they have their own T20 which is not as lucrative or widely followed like IPL.. its just whinning of the English when they can't get to the grapes
Ask him to say remove EPL(English premier league) how has it helped his country win any worldcup in football? bottomline is they r not able to stand that india is dictating world cricket and time and again people come to slam IPL.... how many times did india win series outside india before IPL? Indian were always bad tourist when it came to test cricket... Sir Botham, take a chill pill...
He is 100% correct. IPL has destroyed the soul of the cricket. Specially Indian players are more interested in playing T20 sort of game rather than test match. Test match test skill, mental strength and Patience . however t20 is Dukka type game . If you have collected the bowl and hit out of park u r great batsmen. if you miss than it ok ur strike rate is more than 100% as u have faced 3 deliveries and got out at 4 runs. ???

In the final analysis one and only yardstick of success or failure of any game is how much its is liked by the general public. It is clear that IPL has large public following and is resounding sucess. Those handful who do not like it are free to ignore it and they should turn off TV and stay away from IPL matches.

In the past, these crickets (read Lillee, Hadlee, Botham, etc.,) used to avoid playing in India. Now all of these want to come to India to play IPL. Indeed its not the traditional and beautiful game/ nor the standard ODI, but let us face it, times have changeth. How many people can watch a whole day of cricket? Indeed its slam bang - but still it has its own unique improvisations required. Whatever it is, I think T20 is keeping with the changing times.
IAN respected and admired you about cricketing abilities. Now your comment has left me wondering if you will get any bread to do even commentary for any channel. Aussies are smarter so are the Kiwi and the Proteas. What you have said about IPL is all Roobish (Reference - Geoferry Boycott)
