Re: Botham at Bottom..

Sir Ian Botham has his own opinion about the decline in standards regarding Test cricket. However, without IPL and high pay, it is difficult to conceive of any ostensible means of livelihood for cricketers. Moreover, Sir Ian Botham does not like second rate Indian players to be over-paid as compared to top players from other countries. His feelings are understandable but not acceptable in a democratic frame-work.
That time too, people n pundits vehemently opposed it since it would corrupt test cricket. But u n many others ignored n latched (only with an eye on the riches offered.)

Sir ian Botham played for England when the Packer series consumed a lot of top cricketers including Tony Grieg.
BCCI is the most corrupt sports organization in the entire world. Even sports minister has no control.
Betting runs into crores, Black money is channelized to team ownership. Even selectors own IPL teams.
The only good thing is that now players who are not favorites of selectors have a chance to earn. otherwise even local bodies are controlled by politicians who have never played cricket

Although BCCI corruption in an important issue, which needs to be addressed, but its totally unrelated to Botham's outburst.
what a pity idea of IPL being played in england.. Sir Bothom should know the fact of the matter is that IPL make cricketer reach overnight with lesser stress, & public gets cricket in a flash mode getting quick result. if Mr Bottom thinks that due to IPL skill of cricketer not tested or not utilised then I say this T20 games required special skills to make runs & wickets..
