Lack of commitment
by nitesh rawte on Aug 19, 2014 03:05 PM

Tournaments like IPL will keep on coming. At first it was one day format which was blamed of spoiling test cricket. These are lame excuses given for the players not performing. The commitment factor is seriously lacking. You can see that from their body langauge.Remember a Rahul Dravid getting out some years ago, that walk to the pavilion always had a lot of agony in it with a promise to deliver in the next innings. This cant be seen in the current lot. Some people are in the team for a year or so without any special performance or any match saving innings, for reasons best known to the team management.Teams like England,Australia and even South Africa quickly learn from their mistakes. They have the guts to sack the best of their players after any such debacle. But India will keep on nurturing these cricketers untill finally they loose confidence in themselves. At the middle of the tour, after loosing Lords test there was open critisism on Cook and pressure to quit captaincy and see how he bounced back.Never seen something like this happening in Indian cricket.Harsh decissions in the past have been taken because of some personel differences but not because of performance.Indian cricket and obviously their cricketers need a serious change in attitude before we are at the bottom of the ranking table.

by rajinikanth on Aug 19, 2014 03:01 PM

People r thriving for Food, water, Electricity Every IPL Match is very costly in terms of Water used, FOOD prepared & wasted, Electricity, Time and all other resources. We talk abt controlling Inflation, GDP but nobody has questioned about cost involved in every game.

Surprised

I am surprised that people still thong the stadiums to watch IPL, specially after the fixing scams of last year. Well if you want to let go off your hard earned money to be fooled watching a fixed game, the choice is yours, or maybe the money isnt all that hard earned.
Why blame the IPL anyway, India's test record away from home has never been great, like someone said the team should be allowed to carry a sub-continental pitch with them on tours.

Don't fool around
by anil sood on Aug 19, 2014 02:50 PM

It is not IPL but the lack of knowledge of basics while playing swinging & pace bowling. Rather than making lame excuses, better to make few fast tracks on which the youngsters can practise.

IT IS PROVED THAT MONEY MACHINE(IPL) HAS RUINED INDIAN CRICKET
by subrata banerjee on Aug 19, 2014 02:43 PM

For last couple of years people of India have been made fool by adding unnecessary fuel to the cricket circus like IPL TOURNAMEN (MONEY MAKING MACHINE),which has allowed batsmen to get huge runs without any sense of cricket book and that too the bowlers are forced to bowl with huge fielding restrictions. In the process, present Indian cricketers feel to start themselves lion. They can bat like a lion if the fielding restrictions are there and bowlers are always at the loosing end. In my opinion the circus like IPL tournament should be stopped and help cricketers to learn the basics of the game. It is not cricket when we see a batsman is temped to take spoon shot which is unbelievable in cricket. All these things have done a great damage to Indian cricket. Finally, Dhoni's reply to media reflects his mentality when he said "why do you jealous against IPL" (he wanted to mean that why you people are jealous when we are engaged hundreds of crores through circus cricket. BCCI should take his comment seriously and should think whether it would be prudent to continue the tournament like IPL in order to improve the quality of cricket talents of our country.

We public are to be blamed
by martin descent on Aug 19, 2014 02:25 PM

"We spend too much time watching stupid IPL matches. We are to be blamed coz IPL has not done anything good to Indian cricket. 2007 t20 World Cup was won before IPL and 2011 World Cup was because of home conditions and a couple of heroic performances. These young folks are stupid with no technique what so ever. They are just interested in money and glamour. They do not think of country. Simple is boycott IPL and the products they endorse"

Poor performance of national cricket team
by CG Panicker on Aug 19, 2014 02:10 PM

There are many factors contributing to the downfall and BCCI is responsible for the current state of affairs. First of all the cricketers are overpaid as compared to other sportsmen representing the country. Secondly they are allowed to earn money through advertisements, etc, apart from the huge earnings from IPL. The more the money, the lesser the concentration and dedication towards playing for the country. It was a sore sight to see our batsmen looking like novices in front of the English bowlers. Shame on not only the players but also the cricket administrators who are answerable to the Indian public. It is high time the concerned authorities look into the matter and maybe the PM himself understand the sentiments of the people and the country as it involves our national pride. Why are we persisting with the same players despite continued failures and if there is no experienced players, then give our under 19 or other growing cricketers an exposure to international cricket. That way we will at least have the consolation. The current players have enjoyed success which has gone to their head and are concentrating more on their personal gains and girlfriends rather than even thinking of the prestige of our motherland which they represent. Many of them have already lost their right to do so and why not send them back ! Hope Mr Ravi Shastri, who is well aware of everything, takes right decisions before it is too late !
