In my view, for India's successes that happened under Dhoni's captaincy, it would be wrong to give all credit or even major credit to Dhoni. However, he does deserve some SOME credit for those successes.
To pin ALL blame, or even a MAJOR SHARE of the blame for these debacles on Dhoni, would not just be wrong, it would be WORSE than giving him the undue credit for the successes.
"Worse", because many other reasons for failure will escape attention and many other culprits will get away.
For example:
Incredibly consistent and repeated batting failures of the top order Poor fielding, especially in the crucial aspect of slip catching, which is so important in English conditions. Abject failure of the highly paid coaching team, which failed to address the above failures and strengthen the critical areas.
Dada plated tress (Along with serions like Sachin, Viru, Kumble, Zaheer, BHajji) and Dhobi enjoyed fruits.. Now they have retired and Dhobiji exposed.. Even World cups of 2007, 2011 were won by players groomed by Dada. Dhobi is just a good ODI and T20 player and nothing else..

Or even if selected, would never have performed?
Don't you think you're getting carried away with your Dada worship?
Some of these names are phenomena which happen once in a century, and you casually treat them as Ganguly's "creations".

No power on earth can sack him till his illegitimate father "Srini" and India cements back him. He was never Test Captaincy material, he got it by default as Kumble, Dravid etc., failed to deliver. He may be good in the circus called IPL and 50 overs but not Test. Remember when Mohinder asked for his head, Srini promptly sacked him.

i suppose thats why he took india to no 1 ranking in tests and maintained it for 2 yrs...why no other captain before him could do it?
his average in test cricket is better than many specialist batsmen of all countries...
his batting performance when captain is better than ganguly's batting performance when ganguly was captain...
dhoni contribution is better than ganguly contribution in test wins...
even dhoni's away test average is better than that jokeramarnath's home test average...

as a captain dhoni has been most successful in tests...no other indian captain has more test wins than dhoni...
dhoni is perhaps the only captain in the world who has defeated the strong aus side 8 times in tests...and also being Man of the match in 2 of those 8 tests...
even as a wicket keeper he has taken 277 wickets behind the stumps (Catches plus stumpings)
thus only silly people not understanding the game of cricket will say that dhoni is not test material...
his captaincy record his wicket keeping record and his batting record is there for all to see if only they want to use their heads..

Yes, he is the most successful captain in winning for india only but he is close to be most successful in loosing also in world

well Mr. Intelligent can u pl explain why Dhoni has got the dubious record of most losses by an Indian captain overseas. The wins that u talk about are all on tailor made dust bowls in India [made on instructions of the nauseating Srini]. The moment he sees a hint of green on pitches abroad his record becomes abysmal. He is a very lucky captain to have inherited a strong team made by Ganguly. Even his world cup win came with Sri Lanka dropping 5 catches and Pawar as Chairman of ICC at Wankhede. Judge for yr self what transpired behind the scenes for India to win. If u can't, wait for the WC 2015 when India will be lucky to even make the semi-finals. U call Amarnath a joker, don't forget his overses record is better than most Indians. He was the only batsman to stand up to the pace of Imran in Pakistan and then Marshal, Holding, Garner, King in the WI [In a team comprising Gavaskar,Vishwanath, Sandeep Patil, Kapil,Yashpal]. A feat acknowledged by none other than the great Clive Lloyd and Imran Khan. Now tell me who is silly and also who understands this game.
