One achievement is missing in the list. 0-8 loss(against ENG and AUS) in test CKT by any captain ever and still in the job.

Deer Bundo_padh_dhiya buboo , we waste bungalis should not criticize Dhoni the Great but hang our heads in shame while thinking about our own lazy, selfish, politician gungooly who took credit for good performance by tendulkar, dravid, laxman while he himself was spitting paan and urinaating in the public

Nostradamus Great...I really have no business or concern in what your mum does..if she'sinterested with the guy nextdoor because he is younger than your dad well then best of luck to her and to all of you :)
it was a big achievement bcoz at that time aus have players like ponting, hayden, gilchrist, symonds etc and beating aus in aus in 2 succesive finals was a achievement.
Based on most of comments it is quite clear how most of the Indians think. we love someone because he belongs to our caste/religion/region/language and definitely not on how he performs. Sheer hatred and pulling each other is in our blood based on the said factors and perhaps this is the reason we have been ruled by outsiders most of the time in our history. so called intellectuals of developed states can't digest the fact that how come a guy born and brought up in one of poorest region(Bihar/Jharkhand) is controlling the shots purely on his merits/capabilities and not politics. His metal agility and temperament is unmatched in the history of cricket and has never seen before by any player. Steve Waugh perhaps was another one but he also is not on the same league as Dhoni when the chips are completely down. This has been reiterated time and again by best cricketers in the world except frustrated ex Indian players and their mindless fans.

I completely agree, he is a diffrent breed, and unmatachable. From the kind of back ground which he came, and now enjoying the role of a dictator for Indian cricket showing nothing but his calibure.

Though India won 4-0, there was very little contribution by the pacers, and spinners wont be this much succesful outside India, so his real test will be outside subcontinent, when they play South Africa and England and even Australia in their homes.
Highly amused by the crticism of Dhoni. We Indians are a zealous lot and dont want to give credit to one of our own countrymen who has brought glory to the country at the highest level. If Dhoni had quality players, so did other great captains like Llyod, Ponting, Imran and Ganguly but Dhoni has surpassed each of these great captains. Give credit where its due. We'll possibly remember Dhoni's greatness after he retires.
is the biggest acheivement that also with some greatest players. Then losing to pak after winning wc. There is no consistancy in his captainship.kicking out sachin will surely be a great achievement
Re: losing 8 test matches in a row
by Ravi Iyer on Mar 28, 2013 10:13 AM
we lost 7 under him not 8. BTW, every captain has ups and downs. Ponting has lost 3 Ashes series. Hardly any Aussie captain has. But he has the highest number of test wins both as a captain and as a player. Lloyd won two WC but lost a 3rd to an unsung and unheralded India. Steve Waugh for all his leadership could not achieve a series win in India. He came so close in 2001 but the Indian duo made a great partnership (once in a lifetime type) and Aus lost another series in India after that. Greatness is not just achieving but also bouncing back from failure. Dhoni has done well in the recent series. But real test would be in SA with a young team. All the best!
