HARS OOF DHONI
by KSR MURTHY on Mar 18, 2013 08:40 PM  | Hide replies

We must appreciate MS Dhoni, the way he held his nerves towards the end. One one hand the there is the temptation to win and clinch the series and on the other hand if they lose the match, the Aussies are sure to bounce at Delhi. This was the main reason for his shaky batting in the penultimate overs. Anyhow he has achieved a Grand Series victory for the country. Dr.K.S.R.Murthy

When you're a beautiful person on the inside, nothing in the world can change that about you. Jealousy is the result of one's lack of self-confidence, self-worth, and self-acceptance. The Lesson: If you can't accept yourself, then certainly no one else will

I think more than indians talent it is the magic of indian summer that is the main reason why indians win the matches so convincingly....i think aussies couldnt tolerate indian summer....if the england team also plays in indian summer then indians would have against english team too......since the test series with england is held in indian winter england won against india.....if it is summer england's fate would have been similar to aussie fate......so the man of the series is INDIAN SUMMER......

Seems correct. Australian has won 2004-2005 series in "Indian winter". After that they have played all test matches in India in "Indian Summer". ;-)

Well..England had the world's best off spinner(with a clean action), Swann and a much improved Panesar. They used conditions better than us. Our batsmen failed miserably.

FACTS WILL BREAK MYTHS
by prajyoth pradeep on Mar 18, 2013 08:02 PM  | Hide replies

Australia:

-FIRST team in Test history to lose by an innings after declaring in Chennai.
-Lose all three matches after WINNING the toss.
-Foreign commentators and Australian Players often complain about flat Indian pitches.. then why don't their same batsman score big runs on those same flat Indian patches.
-Indian pitches are not easy to bat on. Our batsmen make it look easy. Spinning conditions reverse swinging ball stay throughout the day unlike bouncy and seaming wickets who have that bite only in morning sessions or rare cloudy days.
-Australia have managed to get ALL OUT below 100 on FOUR occasions in 2012 alone in their own conditions in Australia.
-Australia would have had the record of lowest test score had it not been for Peter Siddle against SA. Australia were 21/9. Then I wonder why their players ramble on about conditions.
-Do not forget India has also done well overseas under Dhoni barring the recent 2011 England and 2012 Australian tours. Under Dhoni India won the bilateral One day series for the first time and India would have won the South African test series had it not been for a single.. a single Kallis-Boucher partnership for SA in 2011.

No doubt Aussie cricket is going to the dogs. The retirement of Ponting and Hussey were big blows. Hussey could have made things difficult for India.

Massacre of aussies will continue in England in July.

Please mind that fall of Australian cricket is complete and now they join the ranks of West Indies.

Cricket in Australia is not attracting their best sporting talent as they have moved to more lucrative sport like Football, Hockey, Aquatics, Rugby and track and field which are of short duration, globally popular and rewarding.

You both totally got carried away. This is Australian Team. They have short term , long term plans for every sport, let alone cricket. Till 1960s, their field hockey team wasn't that good, and used to get murdered by India and Pakistan. They then formed a well-made plan to improve their hockey and today they are world beaters..just like their cricket team 7 years back. Aussie cricket went thru slump in mid 1980s and in came Allan Border and Waugh brothers who restored their lost pride. Their culture is not to sit back and leave it to fate. They are set to loose 0-4 in this series and might get totally screwed in the 10-Test back to back Ashes series. But watch out guys ..they will come back strongly in a few years time and will regain their numero UNO position. I am not an aussie fan and all ..All I say is that they play their sport hard ..be it cricket or hockey or rugby.

FYKI..
by abc_xyz abc_xyz on Mar 18, 2013 08:01 PM  | Hide replies

India recently defeated Pakistan twice in the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament fiedling a totally young side (which had as many as 10 players under 18 out of 15 member squad). They defeated 3-1 in the league stage and then 4-2 in the 5ht-6th play off position. They should have played for the bronze had it not been for a notorious umpiring blunder against Malaysia.

While praising the cricket team, request you all to spare a thought for the hockey team too.

Whitewash Series

2008 - In India - India whitewash Australia 2-0
2011 - In India - India Whitewash Australia 2-0
2012 - In Australia- Australia whitewash India 4-0
2013 - In India - India whitewashing Australia 4-0 seems inevitable.

India -Australia series should now be renamed as "Whitewash Series" wherever/whenever it happens. :-)

Actually this time,if closely observed their performance was really bad in only the Hyderabad test where they were completely outplayed. In Chennai as well as Mohali, they played well in patches. They made 380(a decent 1st inn score) in Chennai and had India at 196/4 before the Dhoni blitzkreig took them by surprise! In Mohali again,a decent 408 in the first innings (despite absence of Watson),before Dhawan blew them away!!And also,India should thank their top-order batsmen becoz but for their performance,we could very well have been 1-1 or 1-2 in this series.(Remember 115-9 after vijay-pujara stand in hyd and 210-10 after dhawan-vijay stand in mohali).

Guys before we start praising the young guns sky high let us be more practical.

Yes, it is a great achievment to beat Australia 3-0 with one remaining. Congrats to Pujara, Vijay and Dhawan.

But we want to see them perform against a rampant Steyn, Philander, Morkel in SA in November. If they do, then we can truly say that they have taken the place of Sachin, Dravid and Ganguly.

This team is good, but it requires some time to gel together so that we started winning in abroad once again. Remember Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly, Kumble etc are playing together since 1996, but we started winning on foreign soil since 2003-04.

DRAVID is greatest batsmen for INDIA. Cont played 94 tests without being dropped or injured.
Dont compare Pujaras, Shikars and Kohlis with one odd tests. They have to score, be fit, field well9like DRAVID) and prove their batting skills on foreign soil.
