question is how long sachin wants to play? why not make a way for youngsters like shikar dhavan? I had his career, now let others make a careeer. Its not like we are winning because of him.

even any ranji team could have defeated this weak oz team
by Radhakrishnan Vokkarane on Mar 18, 2013 06:48 PM  | Hide replies

Looking at the way Oz played, Ranji teams of Assam or Kerala could have defeated them. Anyway no credit taken away from our great team.

same is true when India visit Australia or England and that woo with a big names like Sachin, Dravid and rahul. In last two overseas series, local Englang or Austrlia team would have defeated us.

In the last one hour of the match 15 mandatory overs to be bowled compulsorily. If it is not mandatory the teams which will bowl waste time and try to finish the match without result i.e. draw

how about we allow sachin in the dressing room and not in the playing eleven? He can still inspire? It's high time seniors make a way for youngsters. Don't spoil the careers for lot young guns. Doesn't matter we win or loose but youngters should get a chance.

too early to say anything
by mahesh pargaonkar on Mar 18, 2013 06:12 PM  | Hide replies

Rather than adding 3 victories, few centuries in the kitty, it is important to know what is the gain for future from this series..The 2001 series gave us Bhajji, Laxman,Zaheer,Sehwag etc who served for next 10 years and contributed significantly in winning WC as well as reaching no 1 position in tests and ODI...as long as we dont play againest quality teams and win, it will be too early to predict about Dhawan, Jadeja, Pujara and company...Lets hope for best...

For sure Pujara looks solid and Vijay is improving steadily. With Dhawan it will be interesting to watch him for next few games. Kohli is a great future in all formats for India and BK may do well if remains injury free. Question remains about Jadeja; he can be handy asset outside if he can score few more runs when needed. As we know SA are not particularly good against spinners, he can be second spinner who may bat as well. So, it's a journey started here and hope it continues for long period. Also, hope to see Umesh, Irfan and Zak again.

Anup, performance againest this austrial side should not be a parameter to judge anybody's talant as on the same tracks and againest better bowlers like Swann, Panesar, Anderson etc. we failed..BK looks very good but histry shows swings bowlers like him and in the past Irfan, Pravin Kumar dont last long...U r right in saying that its a start of a new journey but it has to be travelled very carefully in this era of IPLs and T20..

But Indians struggled for win. Another 50 runs lead for Aussies would have made a difference.

That is all part of the game. Tailenders played well in both the innings for Australia. Generally lower order batsmen do well against India.

Sachin off-strike
by Jay on Mar 18, 2013 05:07 PM  | Hide replies

There seems to be something fishy in the way in which Kohli and Dhoni were playing keeping Sachin off-strike for long. In spite of Sachin playing good, he was kept off-strike for many overs. Even commentators were saying Dhoni-Sachin partnership slowed down only 6 of 27 etc, but Sachin faced only 2 deliveries for 2 runs, whereas Dhoni faced 25 for 4.
