But all 7 wins are in India and all 3 losses are in Australia so in short 100% in home and 0% abroad. Doesn't prove much.

Dhoni test average outside In WI 2006, 24 In SA 2006, 26 In AUS 2007, 17.62 In SA 2011, 35.8 ( one inning of 90 when styen/morkel was kept out of attack for 2-3 hrs) In WI 2011- 19.5 ( score of 0,16,2, 5 & 74(only one good inning when WI was operating with bowlers like bishoo/chandrapaul & front line bowler rampaul/shammi etc was resting due to injury). In Eng 2011- 30.0 In Aus 2012- 20.0 As a captain good record only on indian pitches. Overseas he has lost more test matches(09) than what he won(05) Win includes SLK, Bng, WI & NZL.
Congratulations to Indian team for winning 3 Tests in a row against Austrialia. It is clearly visible from the attitude of the team members that we need to win. Importantly team is not relying on just one or two. Every player understood that he has a role to play. In the first innings Kumar went wicketless and Ishant took three and vice versa in the second. I should say it is a collective effort and these boost morale when greats like Rahul and Laxman have retired and team is looking for alternatives. Qudos Dhoni and team
come up with a better side next time they tour India and a tougher side as well - especially in the batting department, against the spinners. You can bet on that. But, what about our team?? It is not a secret that the Indian spinners need dust bowls to take wickets and barring Bhuvaneshwar in the last couple of innings the pace department is bare. Coming next is the Tour to SA and.... Okay...come on... you know what is going to happen..

Team and and its superstars cannot fail in India... It was just plain bad luck when the English won the last series. The bad thing was that both Panesar and Swann were more than capable to exploit the spinner friendly conditions offered by the BCCI and Alaistair Cook and Kevin Pietersen who are excellent players of spin came to the party. James Anderson exploited the reverse swing to devastating effect. Otherwise England team were not meant to win or even draw a single test. The same is the case with the Aussies. They are not expected to win even a single match on this tour. But unlike the English, barring Clarke and Watson to a certain extent, nobody else in the team has played on such 'doctored' rank turners. Even when they have speedsters like Siddle, Starc and Pattinson, the main weapons on dust bowls are quality spinners...certainly not the likes of Lyon, Smith or Doherty... Again....last, but not the least...SAD TO SEE THE MOHALI PITCH DOWNGRADED TO A DUST BOWL....

Do you know the meaning of a dust-bowl??? Two teams wouldn't have scored 400 and 500 in their first innings, if it was dust bowl...i suggest that you ask your 'Senior' Shelly to comment henceforth.

@Gopal: cool down bro....!!! dust bowl means those pitches on which the ball, each time it bounces of the deck causes the pitch to break into dust even on the first session of day one. Just like the pitches at Chennai, Hyderabad and the one at Mohali... If you don't know then Go.....pal...!!!

So, team batting first has a huge advantage. But Australia batted first in all three tests.

so u agree that main reason for our losing in india was that dravid and laxman did not play (with sachin failing nearly all the times)
while the losses abroad were due to dravid laxman and sachin playing in the tests...

o u agree that main reason for our winning in india was that dravid and laxman did not play (with sachin failing nearly all the times)
while the losses abroad were because of dravid laxman and sachin playing in the tests...
in other words dravid laxman sachin are not really needed to win at home...wonder then why we did not use to win so much when they did play in india...
also the main reason for our reputation of being poor travelers...we usually came home from abroad tours losing the series inspite of players like dravid laxman sachin ganguly and before them gavaskar vishwanath vengsarkar amarnath etc. what use such big names if they did not help us win abroad....if with them in the side we rarely won why say that new generation players will fail abroad?
