Lara had very good hand eye coordination..he was more like Sehwag.also very good on feet and fast movement. Sachin is not just batsman but top showman. he puts up a batting display like cricket book and also best flair. sachin is like Maradona . lara is like a boxer.Lara is unorthodox. Sachin is orthodox but with all flair in package too sachin has more appetite for runs.Sachin had more responsibility on his shoulders too (but sachin had some bad years. lara too. so really you have to judge them on who had worse low peiods in their career)

Probably ponting's remark may be biased against Sachin and his stats may not be correct.West Indies have lost more maches after Greenidge,Lloyd,Haynes,Richards were gone. Even when lara was there WI have lost badly.
Ponting says winning matches is more important than scoring centuries.....but where are the centuries. Tendulkar has played for 25 years (1988-2013) and scored 51 centuries....avg only 2 centuries per year. Is that by any means a great record?????

Lara played 16 years and 34 centuries.So what? Only centuries does not reflect a great player.
BEFORE LARA WEST INDIES WAS GREAT TEAM, ALL TEAMS AFRAID TO PLAY AGAINT WEST INDIES.
WITH LARA WHEN LARA STARTED BATTING, WEST INDIES, USED TO LOOSE MATCHES. GO STAISTICS, MOST OF RUNS HE SCORED WAS LOOSING SIDE. VERY FEW MATCHES HELPED WEST INDIES TO WON.
YOU ARE ABSOULTELY SPOT ON. "NOT making hundreds, it is about winning games and series" THAT IS WHERE SACHIN LACKS AND LARA AND EVEN POINTING IS CONSIDERED FAR FAR BETTER THAN SACHIN.
