Kohli the Moron
by Inzy Bhai on Aug 04, 2013 10:07 AM  | Hide replies

With a captain like Kohli what can one expect. The man has an oversized ego & is unlike Dhoni who thinks about the players first. This man is only trying to further his own interests. He desperately wants to upstage Dhoni but the fool does not realize his severe limitations. When India won the Champions Trophy he was seen celebrating alone while the rest of the team huddled around Dhoni. This is leading by example & Dhoni has shown the way. Kohli is nothing but an upstart. He could have enhanced his stature & doused some of the bad blood that he carries by playing Rasool. The blighted people of Kashmir would remember him for this for ever. Lost chance for India is all I can say.

I agree with

I agree with Mr. Abdullah. In these days of competitive cricket, players hardly get a chance to play for the nation. When India had won the series 3-0, it was time the likes of Kohli, Dhavan, et. al, should have rested and the remaining people of the bench should have been given a chance to play.

Giving a chance to Rasool was very, very important because it would definitely have added to the sense of belonging to the people of Kashmir.

It is never late still, include Rasool in the next series, whatever it maybe, and let him play at least two to three games for the country.

All the best Mr. Rasool. Do wonders for the country.

Rasool
by RC on Aug 04, 2013 12:18 AM

When all other members got a chance for atleast one match-- he should also have been given atleast a single match. They were leading 4-0 so would not have made much difference. Jadeja could have been rested and Rasool could have played. ANyway.. he will find enough chances soon. Good luck!!!

Be patient!!

Shikhar Dhawan waited for two years after his selection in the Indian team! This is no insult. All Indians will be treated equally.

Never Change a Winning Combination
by Satish on Aug 03, 2013 11:02 PM  | Hide replies

Why do we always need to experiment if we are winning comfortably? Take a cue from the invincible Aussies of the 2000s. They always played full strength no matter how strong or weak the opposition. Once that attitude sets in, winning becomes a habit. During the same era, there was a series involving India, Bangladesh and Kenya. India wanted to experiment and were thrashed by Kenya in a game. No matter whatever the result of the tournament, your overall stats dont say that you lost to a minnow because you were experimenting. Rasool is a good player and needs to be patient. He will definitely get a chance soon and prove himself. Ganguly is a classic example. From carrying drinks in 1992, he went onto Captain the Indian Team. I request Mr Omar Abdullah not to raise an issue unnecessarily. If the Indian team is winning, let the trend continue, let it become a habit and any guys making their debut in such circumstances will definitely benefit by the collective morale of the team and the fear in the minds of the opposition.

But the Aussie team dominated for more than a decade. There is always a slide after a rise. What T'm trying to say is to build up on the rise while the team is doing well. If we wanted to experiment, then why didn't we try out Yagnik or Samson instead of Dinesh Karthik? Rasool is a good player and will get a chance and should be patient. You have to earn a place and not get it because you are playing minnows. He should not lose heart but continue to do well and make it difficult for the selectors to ignore him.

In whose place could he have been included? Amit Mishra was doing a wonderful job. Rahane came in for the out of form Rohit who had only one good innings in the series.

BCCI is right
by denzel lobo on Aug 03, 2013 11:01 PM

Mr Abdullah.. you need to focus on your job and let BCCI do their job. There is no minority quota in cricket, India has come out with flying colors with this young team. Rasool has to wait for his chance, he cannot be given a chance just because he is from your state.
There are a lot of other things for you to focus on.. keep your politics out of cricket, cricket has its own agenda

by S Srivatsan on Aug 03, 2013 10:58 PM

I agree Ransool should have played 5th ODI but why Politicians and J&K citizens has not made any appreciation or rewards to Suresh Raina who is originally from J&K, who has done lot of achievements in ODI cricket and also scored Test century on Debut. All bcoz he is a Hindu..
