Bird's Eleven

A very well balanced team. I agree with his selection and the choice of captain. This team obviously is not meant to be comprising of all time greats but only those ones Dickie has seen. No Indian other than Gavaskar deserves a place. Perhaps only Prasanna could have been considered in place of Gibbs. I feel very sorry for Andy Roberts. You can only pick eleven.

Some pathetic personalities like yourself can only achieve some recognition only by demeaning other great personalities.
Anyway I dont think you can afford a shoe cleaner

They blindly worship a money minded selfish baatsman called Tendulkar...who has hardly won a match by himself. Dhoni is far better then him in this regard . Man Tendulkar should clean wash rooms instead of disgracing IPL

Dickey B!
by Intel Midfield on Apr 19, 2013 06:19 PM  | Hide replies

Has watched cricket from the closets possible distance with great understanding (after all he's considered one of the best Umpires). Barring a couple a players, this is one if the perfect team ever choosen. Don can't just be a default selection only because of his records, and Tendulkar is one of the biggest media hype though still qualifies to make it any best team but only after Gavaskar.

Why Sachin...
by A on Apr 19, 2013 05:53 PM  | Hide replies

Why is the media still going gaga over Sachin. He was once playing great and had the entire burden on his shoulders. Now, Sachin is a mediocre player, who gets out to a local unheard off IPL bowler. Sachin is no good now..

This is absurd reporting. The list was from the players while he was in his umpiring career (1979 - 1996). Bradman is not in this era by any means. Gilchrist had not peaked in this era. Sachin was an attractive option but not the complete Sachin, he reached by 2000/2003. So commenting without reading the full context is a feature of Indian media and public. Malcolm Marshall/Michael holding/Joeal garner may be real great misses so is the inclusion of Gibbs.

Warne already in Bird's Eleven. Kapil as an all-rounder. Ofcourse it could be either Murali or Kumble. I think such an eleven may beat BIRD's eleven!!!
