is this comment a joke on laxman, he is good player that too in second innings but cant be a good captain dude,,.,.
We forget, that during Ganguly's time, world cricket was a LOT more competitive. Nowadays, Most of the international teams are a LOT weaker than before. Only South Africa and maybe England are as strong as they used to be (or stronger). Others like Australia, Pakistan, WI, New Zealand and even Sri Lanka are a lot more inconsistent and weaker.
India won the 2011 WC by default! We won it only because there was no other strong team, and MAINLY because it was held in India on turning tracks, and Yuvraj Singh of all people took a bucketful of wickets!!

well by similar logic, india was lucky to reach world cup finals under ganguly. They never played South Africa in the tournament, they lost both the times to Australia (league and final) and they got to play Kenya in the Semifinal. The 2011 team on the other had had to face Pakistan, Aus and SL in the knockouts of the WC-2011. Much tougher.

India won the 2011 WC by default? We won it only because there was no other strong team? what a joke dude. India won against Austrelia(QF), Pakistan(SF), Srl(final) and won against all world cup champions of previous(WI). Stil you are barking it is default ...granted...or may be fixed...LOL
"He supports his players, young and experienced alike, to the hilt, particularly when they are going through a lean period." To be frank no sane man would say that "he supports his players"; may be he supports his players in the present squad. But he has explicitly been very partial and prejudiced in dealing with certain players and supporting them or not.
Well Ganguly was very good captain who backed his players. But i would rate Kumble as the Best captain, But unfortunately he could not be for a long time. If Kumble had become the captain after ganguly, then the youngsters would have known how cricket is played. And talking about Dhoni Favouritism plays a very vital part in the current selections. he opts for players who have a good relation and also stinks of regionilism
