This is difference between AUS and IND
by ravindra paikaray on Dec 01, 2012 07:35 AM  | Hide replies

This happens in INDIA only.We have great respect for Tendulkar. But that does not mean he will be there as long as he wish without performing. It is a nation who demands action , not the past history. He should retire himself without waiting for the time people will ask him to retire. This is really horrible he is not even talking about his retirement and people of this country putting individual above a nation

No one is asking him to retire as he is not permanent empployee of BCCI. Let him be available for all forms of cricket as long as he wants but he should play only when found to be performing in domestic cricket at par with the other contenders and then selected in the team. So even if he does not retire he should not be selected on his current very very poor performance. let him contribute as MP of Congress party rather than non performing permanent member of indian cricket team.

Can we think of issues and not the people?
by khajsing pungipur on Dec 01, 2012 07:12 AM

1.On a turning track, any fast bowler should be agile and at least 140 K. His role is to break partnerships developing against spinners.
2.Three spinners is waste of one resource. Anyways, India has good part time options.
3.At least half a dozen batsmen are doing very well on domestic circuit. They were born and bred on turning tracks against good spin. Why not test ‘horses for courses’ policy.
4.With the age, players might lose shape and reflexes. Obviously, despite the same skills and mind, the body is not the same. Lets’ accept the law of nature. The ordinary TV viewer can very well appreciate as to why the same great bowler of 2005 is ineffective in 2012 (for example). The selection Committee should see for themselves
5.Selection for any event of national pride must be on merits and not on sentiments. (Sorry, have to say that)
6.If no rotation among the top 20 players, we will soon go down the ladder. When do you test your reserves?
7.Panic reaction to one defeat in a battle is not a good war strategy.

Bedi sense

Trust Bedi to talk inanities ! If contribution is the criteria, make Kapil Dev to play for India. Contribution is a past and we respect that but it is not a passport to continuance at the expense of your country's interests.

Mr Bedi was ancient cricketer! Modern cricket is totaly different. One who is sticking in the team without performance is sticking for money only. I am sure Sachin will exit like Ganguly by losing all reputation.

sachin scored 8 centuries in alst 2 years. ? how many runs he scored in last 1 year. I dont understand why many of indian players want to be thrown out of the team instead of a respectful retirement. is it greed of money .?

Respect
by Shrikar D on Nov 30, 2012 11:36 PM

Respect! Sachin has forgotten more about cricket than all these Sachin-bashers will collectively know or experience even if they lived out their miserable lives 10-times over. Players who have played alongside and against him agree that Sachin is the best person in a position to make that call on retirement. And, like I explained earlier (retired from T20 & mostly absent from ODIs), it is not as if he is standing in the way of someone else getting a chance in the Test (which in my book is the highest & toughest form of international cricket) team. Instead of spending every waking minute thinking up new ways to find faults with the Maestro, these armchair critics would do well to reflect on whether they can personally accomplish even a fraction of what Sachin has so far achieved in cricket and elsewhere. Get a life you haters!

when sachin is doing well ,we are all dacning and celebrating with him ,and he as virat said at WC finl has carried the burden of the country on his shoulder and now when he is going through a rough patch we should support him and stand by him ,those who cant ,plz dont be here when we celebrate sachin . he has done enough to decide when to retire and leave it him .

Sachin must understand
by srini tla on Nov 30, 2012 11:08 PM

Sachin requires counseling, some one has to explain & make him understand that he is getting old and unnecessary blocked one place in the team, selectors are selecting him reluctantly due to his past and respect for a great batsman. Slowly but surely cricket lovers who loved him once have started to hate because of his stubborn nature of continuing despite being out of form for so many days. I feel he missed right time to retire on two occasions one when India one world cup in 2011 and second when he completed 100 international hundreds.
