Punter played with a graphite coated bat to get better stroke and made 6 centuries with it. Then ICI asked punter to not use the bat.. Cheating is the best example we call it!!

he's a great player. but flawed. thanks for mentioning this. i guess guys like steve waugh, warne and others will not remember their actions. they chose to attack others as not so great.

how does it matter and if he doesnt connect the ball with bat properly and what is the use of graphite coated bat. After all it is talent of a batsmen to connect the ball not with the talent of BAT

Whenever Sachin Scored singlehandedly the entire team didnot even score few runs to win the matches..So many times we lost not because of Tendulkar, but because of our other teams not contributing bare minimum to win when Tendulkar got out.. Example: Test Match at Chennai with Pakistan..

WC matches vs England & South Africa, Sachin's 175 runs against Aus in Hyderabad, Sachin's 100 vs Pak in 2006 (Peshwar)/2005 (Motera), 141 vs Pak Rawalpindi (2004), 146 vs Zimabwe (2000) at Jodhpur, 101 vs Srilanka Sharjah (2000)

some more examples. FYI, I dint mention performances like maha shatak vs Bangladesh because he was surely ONE of the reason why India lost.

Punter started late than SRT but look results gr8 achivement by Ricky......but he is not top batsman SRT is ahead of him technically perfect batsman ,have been facing quality attack from all sides unfortunatli Punter not faced his home side attack on international level but if one can compair according to tally then few more players are great than SRT & Punter which are Kallis,Sagkara(Wkt Keeper & captain),VVS(stylish & dependable)

Even KP is very good batsman more than 7 thousand runs in 90 tests and can easily play any type of attack on any pitch & can give hammer treatment to bowlers.....

One should know , when to stop
by Sanjaykumar Wawale on Nov 29, 2012 01:57 PM  | Hide replies

It was Sunil Gavaskar, the legend in his Era & It was Great Vijay Merchant, who called it a day when people were still asking them "Why So Early ". Sachin probably is greater than these Two Legends, but he has already missed the Bus. People have already started asking "Why so Late ?". Sachin will have his last chance with the destiny at the end of the present Test series.

In those days, playing one test extra at best meant Rs.10,000/- more if not less. How many endorsements Vijay Merchant had and Gavaskar except a haldful which are not a function of their playing.

But Sachin's case is different: the day he stops playing Crores of Rupees will go down the drain in form with endorsements that are already cleared. The same thing held true for Saurav as well: that is the reason even Saurav delayed his announcement of retirement.

Lara and Ponting have just a decimal point worth of endorsements Sachin and Saurav had.

Had they had the kind of endorsements Sachin and Saurav had, trust me they will be ready to kill their selectors if they were not chosen.

It is just not glory here; it is lots and lots of money.

Indian players are professional while others are amateurs. That is the reason they look like to Indians as more sportsmen like and ours like Shylocks

Mr. Kabeer,

Had it been about endorsements, Sachin would have quit long back.

Why would some one toil hard in the middle of the field, bear the brunt of senseless people and still play with all his sincerity? Just for endorsements? He has enough money, and your so called endorsements are just a fraction of it...

More than endorsements, its the affection with the game, which is delaying his decision. He has given so much of his life to the game, that Sachin finds a void in front of him after retirement.

And even if endorsements kept coming for Indian cricketers, what is wrong in that? After all they have earned that right to get such endorsements.

Rick gaint performer
by Ajit Panigrahi on Nov 29, 2012 01:48 PM  | Hide replies

Tendulkar has hailed and aclaimed as great form the beggining of his game. But Rick established him with his batting. He has the steel nerve and exaled whenever the team needed as in the world cup. In addition to his batting, his role as captain is praiseworthy which may be found not matched by Tendulkar.
ajit Panigrahi,Aditya Aluminium, Rayagada( Odishha)

WHY COMPARE WITH PONTING
by madanmohan siddhanthi on Nov 29, 2012 01:36 PM  | Hide replies

Just compare with greatest player in Tendulkar era- Jack Kallis , just see the average as a batsman forget about bowling skills and catches etc
