If you have to see a disaster

Arrange a tour to Australia or England asap, and you will see SRT, hyped master will be at mercy of their pacers... or if you want to see him score runs arrange a tour to Bangladesh. This is how we define great player

It is a Huge Loss for International Cricket
by RSS on Nov 29, 2012 11:48 PM

I expected Ricky Ponting to stay atleast for another 3 years.

He was a Very Good Player (Except Behaviourwise) I liked his Style of Speaking English, Few can match him in that skill.

He was an exceptional Batsman, Captain and fielder.

Congratulations Ricky, Well Played !!!!!!!!

He was the best Indian batsmen in the 4-0 Australia loss that you mention. Go check the facts.

I feels like, I am very unfortunate to miss those matches. I didnt saw any matches (May be i was out of town or sick)were ponting Batted all 300 Balls and bowled all the 50 Overs and ensured his one man team won those matches.

Really unfortunate, right?

You should have to be atleast 3 years old to understand who is Sachin.

Ponting&bradman do not even come near our Sachin,Folks,WHY?
by Saaani Mrichie on Nov 29, 2012 10:19 PM  | Hide replies

Shame that indian media and some vested interests are doing the sachin-bashing for helping some vested interests! Shame Indians are so good in pulling down their own heroes and legends and a player like Sachin comes only once in 500 years, perhaps???Get some reality checks, folks!Ponting is nobody compared to our legend Sachin for the simple reason that Sachin had to face the fiery bowling of aussies and other countries too and still score 100 centuries! while Ponting or Bradman had the privilege and good lcuk of NOT facing the fiery aussie pace attack and they had the added luxury of facing indian bowlers and score centuries as they want! Further all the umpires were very kind to all white skinned players and very cruel with Sachin and coloured players and so many times Sachin has been given out wrongly ba bad umpiring decisions too! Hope all world and cricket fans will realize now why Sachin is greater than Bradman and Ponting and Others!

mr saani, pointing was a successful captain who maintained aus as no1 in test cricket and won 2 world cup tittle. He has faced the same bowlers like sachin except mcgarth and b lee.In fact the overseas pitches are bowler friendly than asian pitches.Do not compare the players, bothare great in their own way,if kallis and pointing are short of 7 and 10 centuries ,they played less cricket too, besides kallis got 280 wickets and pointing being captain,we have to acknowledge their greatness too.

well said as long every one agrees all three are greats, I think there is nothing to bark about. But I feel Sachin is a shade better than others for having to carry the burden of fan pressure.

sad state of indian cricket
by ranjit roy on Nov 29, 2012 10:08 PM  | Hide replies

no cricketer will ever say that he is out of form and needs to step down. instesd, he will say that it is that one innings required for the turnaround. like the gambler continuing to lose at the table waiting for that one big winning hand, the cricketer waits for that one big innings. the triple failure of sachin/dravid/laxman in australia signalled the end of an era. dravid who had batted brilliantly in england at 38, remained firmly grounded by announcing his retirement after the australian tour 2011 knowing that time is no longer on his side, his reflexes have slowed down. in this regard, one must commend dravid on his decisiveness. laxman failed to retire gracefully after failing in england and australia. sachin is failing on flat subcontinental tracks against medium pacers and spinners - one shudders to think of his form today on the fast SA/Aus tracks. the selectors are the ones to blame in continuing to retain these senior citizens of cricket. as a touted chief selector (after srikanth) mohinder amarnath would have given MSD the boot, instead mohinder got the boot. this is the sad state of indian cricket

bjorn borg tried to come a comeback in 1991 at the age of 35 with his wooden racket in an era of graphite rackets, speed, and power and lost to a lowly ranked jordi arrese in straight sets. the legendary michael schumacher has failed in 2 seasons with mercedes. since sachin has known cricket and only cricket as far back as he can remember, it is doubtless difficult for him to contemplate life after cricket but such emotions must be set aside for the sake of continuity and the future of indian cricket because no individual can be above the game and the country. ponting has decided to retire after perth; he wanted to stay till the 2012 ashes but but Cricket Australia is not into silly sentimentality. as imran khan said - sachin should have retired on a high after the 2011 world cup (which was after a splendid performance in South africa) - it does not matter if sachin has scored 99 or 100 centuries ; to see sachin dismissed by lesser bowlers is a travesty to the man and to his fans

NOT Only Sachin, even our sunny, kapil and dravid are 100 times better than guys like Ponting,Waugh, Kallis, etc who have become big by playing useless indian pace and spin bowling while indian batsmen had to face fiery aussie bowling and aussie players of course were lucky not to face the aussie pacers and spinners!shame so much undue praise is given to non-indian cricketers for the above reason!

Should we ask other playing nations to field their women's cricket team against team India???so that no unfair treatment is meant to Indian batsmen.

Graceful Retirement
by West Indies on Nov 29, 2012 09:51 PM  | Hide replies

When Tendulkar will retire, Indian media will portray it as a graceful retirement. But 90% Indian cricket fans will breathe a sigh of relief. Fact is that, Tendulkar with his slow reflexes and poor form has become a burden on Indian batting order post 2011 WC. Talented youngster like Ajinkya Rahane deserves his chance to play Test cricket but remaining out of playing squad as Tendulkar has blocked his place in the team.

To summarise, graceful retirement time for Tendulkar is just over.

Time for even Gambir to retire
by Ravi Madhav on Nov 29, 2012 09:45 PM  | Hide replies

Looking at the current and past forms, even Gambir should consider retirement, before being kicked out.

Lax created a big drama before retiring. But look at Pujara, he proved that Lax should have retired earlier. These people think themselves too high, bigger than cricket itself, which is a big problem.

Pujara took Dravid's spot. Not Lakshman's. Lakshman's spot is taken by Yuvraj/Raina.

Laxman did not create drama. It is selectors who did it.

if this guy has any shame left, he will call it quits. Look at some of the guys in the forum defending a guy who can't defend to save his wicket forget alone scoring runs. All the fools like Gambhir etc are sure that one day Sachin will come back as head of selector and making such pro-sachin comments will show them in good light and retain their place when they are in their forties - muppets

True why should sachin retire when ricky ponting retires, that ponting fellow has shame and know better to leave on career high, sachin ke pass paisa hain sharam thode hi hain, so moral of the story sachin will play and a day will come he will open the innings along with sachin
