and see. Vinod Kambli was having back to back double tons against England. Nothing very special about Pujara. Seems like he already lost his form.

I Agree totally with you vishal ..... tenulkar cannot be compared with Rahul the Wall Dravid when it comes to technical cricket. Offcourse Tendulkar is a entertainer on his day but Dravid has always been a gem..... Love his batting.

Tendulkar has been remarkably consistent through his career. It is only in the last 2 years has he really struggled.

Don't hype
by Krish on Nov 30, 2012 10:24 PM

Pujara might be in form last two matches, but earlier matches Vs SAfrica showed his weaknesses. The test records of Murali Vijay, Virat Kohli and Chateshwar Pujara are pretty much the same, so far. They have all failed against fast attacks abroad. While their records are nowhere near international levels if you take all the 10 tests played, they are still better than VSehwag, Gambhir, Yuvrajs' records in the last 2 years. Ajikya Rahane too has failed in T20 and ODIs, so none of these are exemplary players as made out to be in the press.
With bowling, we tend to be too critical all of a sudden- Ashwin despite 10 spectacular tests is being harassed, and if Ojha fails next match again the guns will be trained on him! Why this softcorner only for batsmen?
Don't hype any of these players beyond levels. We have seen many attain stardom like Pathans and then bite the dust!

Understand realities
by kept on Nov 30, 2012 04:48 PM  | Hide replies

Everybody asking Sachin to retire please understand this
1. Austrailian cricket is remembered for Don bradman not for how many trophies or series won by Austrailia.
2. When you say jamaica, what comes to your mind is Usain Bolt not how many Medals country won in Olympic.
3. Indian chess - Vishwanath anand not how many tournaments he won/lost.

Tournaments and Series will come and go, 50 years down world will forget win or lose, but remember iconic people, fortunately we have got Sachin, we should stand behind him and allow him to extend his record so that Nobody can breach his record in years to come. world Cricket will be remembered for Sachin.

Tendulkar is most over rated player. Hero at slow pitches zero at fast pitches. See the record.

correction - he was man of the series in two test series in Australia. He survived McGrath, Ambrose, Walsh, Warne and Murali. He scored century in his first outing in the world's fastest pitch - Perth. So better you go and check the stats dude, before you dare question :)

let Pujara develop the hard way
by ajith pl on Nov 30, 2012 01:38 AM  | Hide replies

Good that Pujara finally made a place in the team. But more important is to hang on to the place vacated by Dravids and Laxmans. One or two performances should not be ayardstick and he should perform well in all sort of pitches and not just the flat-spin tracks in India. in SA last year, he fared miserably and was out because of form and injuries. At this age, if you are loosing kmore matches because of injury, it is not a good sign as one only grows old and gets more injury prone. If you look at Sachin, Ponting, Kapil and other greats, they hardly missed more than 2 international matches when under 30 years old.
Anyway, wish him and India good luck in future

Exactly! We tend to praise too high and hit too hard. Pujara failed miserably in SA. As per records as on date- Murli Vijay, V Kohli and Pujara's are the same. All three of them failed abroad, except one innings of Kohli at Adelaide. In fact even A Rahane's record in ODI and T20 is not as spectacular as made out to be.

Dravid was an utter failure when he began, if you check the stats. So you rate Dravid too badly?

His 2nd innings dismissal was more due to the injury he sustained, you could see the pain in his eyes when he was walking back..but for that injury he would nothave given it away so easily. but these things happen. His real test is 2013 SA tour facing Steyn, Morkel etc and leading a young middle order.
