How many one day & test matches won by India since Sachin Ten
by SandyNilam on Nov 30, 2012 04:03 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin Tendulkar, easily the best batsman ever produced by India (or any country arguably), made his test debut on 15 November 1989 and since then, India has played 189 tests = won 65, lost 50 and drawn 74.

Sachin Tendulkar made his one day debut a month later, on 18 December 1989 and since then India has played 594 ODI = 300 won, 262 lost, 3 tied and 29 no results.

Sachin Tendulkar has played only one twenty20 international, against South Africa at Johannesburg on 1 December 2006 and India won that match by 6 wickets (1 ball remaining).

U check the perforamnces of both Ricky Ponting and Sachin. The one who brought victories to his side with his own contribution is truly great - and not one who amassed runs to set records.

Raj,

You said 'Side' right? Means Team.

There is 10 More Players to bat and min 5 Bowler to bowl, right?

And still if you want to Check, let's look who had the Maximum Man Of The Match and Series Awards? Now you may say, Sachin Played more matches than Ponting. So Check the avg or Ratio. Then you will realize who brought more victories to his Team.

And also wondered to know that, There are two type score cards. One is for Team and other one is for Records.

If you discounted those 'selfish record' Runs from Original Score cards, Indian Might not even reach in some Semi Finals and Finals.

ponting
by abhay singh on Nov 30, 2012 03:41 PM

i don't know y we r fighting with each other ponting is taking retirment its his issue no doubt he was wonderful batsman but not in the category of sachin & lara. plz remember in all of his gr8 success mcgrath & warne r always there two all time greatest bowlers. without them he lost worldcup 2011 & ashes twice he had never won a test in india as captain and in india he is never successful as batsman also (got some runs in last series but still australia lost b'coz of our Very very special Laxman) never forget his finger which he had make in sydney (most partial match of cricket history where our 11 r playing against 11 players and 3 umpires) so he was a good batsman who got more success b'coz of gr8 team but a gr8 cheater always

Ricky Ponting edged out in morality stakes as Sachin Tendulkar wa
by SandyNilam on Nov 30, 2012 03:17 PM  | Hide replies

Ricky Ponting edged Pakistan’s off-spinner Mohammad Hafeez behind to wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal and was given not out. He stood his ground, and was only removed when Pakistan requested a review of the decision.

Sachin Tendulkar edged the West Indies’ Ravi Rampaul behind and immediately tucked his bat under his arm to head for the pavilion, even though umpire Steve Davis was ruling him not out

Tendulkar walked, Ponting didn’t. Tendulkar is the paragon of virtue, Ponting isn’t. Well, that seems the simplest inference anyway, especially as Ponting admitted afterwards: “There were no doubts about the nick. I knew I hit it, but as always I wait for the umpire to give me out. That’s the way I’ve always played the game.”

Sachin's 143 against Australia at sharjah was the best innings he has ever played. India were playing Australia who after batting first, put up mammoth total of 283 runs. India needed to win the match to qualify for the finals of the Coca Cola Cup or end up 30 runs short of the Australian score in order to get a back door entry into the finals

The crowds at the Sharjah, had come with banners wishing Sachin a happy 25th birthday along with their intense desire to see him play another one of those blinders and take India to victory. Sachin didn't disappoint them. Australia had put up a huge target of 273 and that meant India had quite a chase on their hands. Before the Indian innings began noted Australian commentator Greg Chappell made a telling comment. He said, "Sachin will be feeling just a little bit drained from his previous effort and the weight of the entire Indian population will be on his young shoulders." He was right but Sachin went about his task with clinical precision and made 134. He unleashed some of his breathtaking strokes and power only after he had ensured that India were well on the road to victory. After depositing Aussie paceman Michael Kasprowicz on to the roof of the Sharjah stadium, noted TV commentator Tony Greig said, "This little man is the nearest thing to Bradman there's ever been." Sachin ended up sweeping almost all the awards after India emerged victorious. He also won an Opel Astra for his efforts at Sharjah an award which he dedicated to his wife, on his 25th birthday.

There was no Mcgrath in that team and it was the perfect batting track.. there have been players whove chased over 350 runs in one-days.. so its no big deal
