Gavaskar not addressing core issue
by krishna v on Nov 27, 2012 10:06 AM

Whenever the batsmen are under pressure not one batsman is standing up to the occasion. by putting the blame on indian spinners is the easiest option. The manner in which cook, peterson batted they never allowed the spinners to settle. the way they charged and unsettled the spinners. but for india no one had the guts to do the same to panesor, swann. why not blame them. viru, gambhir, yuvraj, sachin all are more experienced than anybody. Sachin had clobbered warne in his younger days.

Gavaskar on Indian spinners

Gavaskar has faulted our spinners and rightly so. They continued to toss the ball up through out England's innings, instead of pushing thru faster. If they were inexperienced, why couldn't Dhoni, Sachin Sehwag and CO advise them on Day 3 to bowl quicker ? Their cricket tactics and knowledge seem to have deserted them, and they appear least interested in effecting improvements on-field.

The team members are not consulting each other or conferring on the field.

The seniors have to stand up and take half the blame at least.

Hi,

Thanks one person is still there in this forum

Although I agree with Gavaskar's comments, why does he always says such stuff after the game is over?

Everyone knows now, including kids that Indian spinners and batsmen did pity bad in this test.

Gavasker is obviously one of the experts and he should say and give advises ahead of time, to help team get better.

And why no words on Master Blaster and gang?

Yes, the spinners were pathetic. Ashwin is an arrogant and over hyped bowler. What happened to all his variations, top spinner..wrong un..carrom..ludo ..etc ?? As Dhoni's fav he thinks he can behave like an a.. Then the batsmen ..they were just as bad..incl the Great One ..whats he doing in the team ? And what can you say about a silly captain ? well the less said the better..

As expected you all started blaming the spinners. Ok i accept that our spinners were not as good as Eng spinners. But never forget that it’s a failure of batsmen that bowlers. If Cook & Pietersen was able to score 300 odd runs, why not our batsmen..., it's purely coz of batsmen. Except Pujara in 1st innings & Gouti in 2nd, who wanted play a long innings? Batsmen will not score more than 200, and they expect the bowlers to restrict the opponents below than our score. It's ridiculous…, Since the series started all the talks going about SPIN pitches, SPIN bowlers, SPIN planning…..etc. Nobody cares about our batting. Why cant our batsmen able to play on turning pitch? One Dravid or one Laxman could have saved the test. Our team succeeds a lot by batting and a little by bowling. When the batsmen keep the score below 150 and expect the bowlers to win the match….a big stupidity.

Gavaskar is perfectly correct. We expected a lot from our spinners. But they failed miserably. But Dhoni has done a good job of including all the three front line spinners .And now nobody can find fault with him that partcular spinner, say X,Y,or Z has been left out.

Dhoni incl all three..but what was he doing as a captain ? and as a wk ? not a word to tell them to change their line and length..and his field placings..that was the worst i have seen..he needs to see how SA saved their match against Australia...to know how to handle difficult situations..

Where are you Gavaskar ?
by Sowri Rajan on Nov 27, 2012 08:54 AM  | Hide replies

It is very strange Gavaskar criticises the spinners. What about the legend that is playing in spite of repeated calls for retirement. Not a word about the failed legend who plays only for records and not for the team.

All spinners failed They couldnt defend 327 which is quiet good total for first inning..Whereas u r talking abt one batsman..we have 5-6 batters in team..Gavaskar is right ..All failed this test but blame goea more to spinners..

Super. You are one of those people who decide players fate on the basis of regionalism. He just failed in one test. There are some players who are still playing on the basis of their performance - so called legend
