Oppositions advantage gone
by Javed Shaikh on May 11, 2012 02:33 PM  | Hide replies

the oppositions main player is ganduly, with whom an team is automatically handicapped in fielding, batting and bowling. This laibility will just make a few random changes while bowling and his fellow bangalis from waste bangal (who anyway dont know much about cricket and have never produced any great cricket player) will immeidately start praising his 'captaincy'.

I think Mr Shaikh, you neither watch cricket nor understand it. Please see that out of the four matches PW has won in two Ganguly had major contribution. It was youngsters who dropped catches off his bowling. No dropped catches. no runs stolen from his side....Others in the team also have to perform. If at no. 6-7 people cant score one run what can dada do.

Dhoni should be also dropped out. Because he has also not made any runs. And what about batsmen like Raina, Yusuf, Clark, Samuels, Mathews, Franklein, Sangakkara - he is total fail, and some others

bangali, your standards are way too ,ow if you feel it a honour to be companred to the selfich worm ganguly. Take him back in the calcatta team if you think he is so good. He was a laibility for calcata as well, which is why he was given a kick on his backside and thrown out of the team.

Mr Javed Paki where is "calcuta" ? It seems you are not an Indian. Better you say something about Pak players who were thrown out from IPL and since then they are crying for money. Fixing match and going to jail. Better go there and support them.

Sourav Ganguly is the best Captain we ever had in terms of winning test matches(21). He teaches how to win test abroad and holds highest test winning record as a captain in India. As a batsman he holds 11000 runs in one day with 22 century and 7000 runs with 16 century in test at down position in batting order , both at an avg. above 41. He had the highest record of hitting sixes then and still in 4 th position in the world. In WC career in total run he was after Sachin with 4 century and no other Indian scored above 1000 runs. In one WC in total run also he was the second after Sachin in India. His 183 runs in WC against SRL was a legend and with a record partnership in WC. His 183 againt SRL was the second highest ever in WC and highest in India. He hold the most century record in one WC. He was 6 times MOM in test. Total 37 MOM which includes 5 consecutive against Pak and 7 MOS..He was one of the best opener in India, in 50 overs CKT, what statistics support. He has 11 one day century as captain and 5 test century as captain which no Indian captain have. He was only the third batsman to make a century in each of his first two innings and third batsman to score 100 in Lords in debut . Is the only Indian captain to win both the one-day and Test series in Pakistan. He was the best left handed batsman of India. Sourav Ganguly is the third player to score 10,000 ODI runs and second-fastest after Sachin Tendulkar He holds the pride of being involved in most number of 200 ODI

Dude Is it one saurav ganguly who will take them ahead. Team is 11 players and however much he makes changes, think sharply team has to perform. If you have watched all matches then please understand out of 9 losses majority were narrow and no team has been able to decimate them despite the fact that they have the weakest bowling.

thanks for all the data--but all was past--we should live in present not past, yes of-course we shouldn't forget the past but need to live in present---a great player must quit the game when time comes, no need to remind him or force him to take retirement--for Ganguly this has happened in Test/one day & now in T-20's--when Ganguly strugling to make runs/team not performing at par/already taken retirement from international cricket, then what's the need for playing T-20's???

ODI partnerships and shares the record with Sachin Tendulkar for the maximum first-wicket ODI partnerships of 175 runs. Holding the second position for hitting the highest number of centuries in a calendar year (2000). In 1997 he was the highest run scorer in ODI in India. Everybody who have some knowledge in CKT and all experts agreed that. He brought killer instinct in captaincy in India and today India is getting benefit of that. Before his captaincy India used to made spinning tracks in India and loosing abroad. Also Indian team was selected by choosing provincial players as selectors own choice and after his captaincy players from different parts of India started getting chances. He leave his opening position which was proved one of the best opening partnership with Sachin (26 century partnership)in one day CKT after Greenidge and Heynes of WI and gave chance to Sehwag to open. How many captain will do that ? He was one of the rare who score a century and take 4 WKTS in one ODI.
Ganguly was also awarded with Padma Shri in 2004 for his magnanimous contribution to the world of cricket also he was awarded Arjuna award..

Also it should be in mind that every player have some weakness and drawback as a human and has some failure and also success. So, above statistics may not be accepted by a Sourav hater but who cares if all CKT pundits recognized a particular cricketer. His records and achievements will be for ever and he will be in heart of CKT lovers of India and wo

lovers of India and world. Mind one thing that no Indian batsman love pace attack in aus,Eng ,SA,NZL. And green pitch. Only Gavaskar has the pride of face boldly against pace attack and no other batsman in India has that awesome record against WI to face Garner,Holding,Marshal and made maximum no. of 100 in WI and Lily/Thompson/Hadlee in those days when pitch was uncovered and so many guards were not available. As familiar and habit, our players don’t love pace and aus/eng/sa/nzl don’t like spin. If a player always performs poor against pace how did he score so many runs in Test and ODI ?

It is a shame that these franchise owner who knows nothing about CKT are now evaluator of our national prides. It is also shameful to measure one’s CKT carrier by a domestic tournament as well as PAYJAMA CKT T-20. Initially before IPL-1 BCCI selects these legends as captains of different teams for only crowed pull and to dominate ICL. These legends should not play IPL to ruin their fame in international CKT. I personally feel that Ganguly,Sachin and Dravid should not play IPL, in fact no Indian players who are in the national team should play IPL. IPL may be used as development of younger players. But these money oriented franchises and BCCI will not allow that as well as greedy players.

The most painful thing to see was characters like Vijay Mallya, Preity Zinta, SRK etc putting price on legends like Dada, Dravid etc.

But then, money speaks and those guys didnt have a problem being bargained for or being shunted, so why should we?

There is no second thought that he is a great player and a great leader...one cannot have 10000 runs in fluke...
However, i feel that he now should be focusing more on mentoring and building up a strong team of Pune. Why Pune, is because this is the team which gave him a chance to prove his mettel.
He has been a great mentor throughout his life. He is known to have build team India from nothing... I guess he has the weakest Indian team when he led... with only Sachin/ dada to rely on ... but he has build players... players like Harbhajan, Yuvraj, Irafan Pathan, Zaheer Khan, and many more...
He should now be focusing on building up the players in Pune and am sure he will create a dream team who will come back strong in the next season and win the IPL...
I am from Kolkata but I still have my heart out for Dada... we all love him ... will continue to love him and be with him at any point of time, any situation. I purchased a complimentary ticket for Rs. 2000 for teh May 5th tie at Eden garden betweek Pune and KKR...just to see him playing as I may not get another change to see the legend playing... A Legend Forever...feel bad for him as he could have contribute more to Indian cricket if all the controversies have not taken place...
We love you Dada!

he is not only responsible for pune debacle. Utthappa, Clark, Samuels, Mathews, Ryder are also responsible for poor batting. Dhoni also did not batted well. But still his team could win because of other batsmen and bowlers. Same inthe case of Punjab. Utthappa is a very costly player. But what is his contribution. Clark is the captain of Australia. But how many runs he made and what strike rate. So, though the captain is responsible, we never held responsible others for defeat and then make one captain out of it only.
