Typical Australian behavior, taking a cheap dig by mixing Lee issue with performance.

Very Cheap

Evryone below wants the real hero of Indian cricket to retire who is only 38 and upon whom the mediocre Indian teams depend on. But we dont mind the useless and corrupted politicians of India ruling us even when they are in their final stages of life.. the person who served India for 22 years with pure dedication to retire but the politicians who are looting India and suppressing and diminishing the future of india should not retire.. this is why the state of our country is like this...

With all due respect, please shut up and mind your own business. You've got not a single century in ODIs and only 14 centuries in tests. On the tour of South Africa in summer 1966–67 playing in a side defeated 1–3, Mr. Chappell, you struggled to make an impression. Your highest score in ten Test innings was 49. So you must understand that all players go through such patches and you don't talk about retirement because YOU sir, came back to play tests after announcing your retirement. So it's better that it is left to Sachin himself as to when he should do the needful. For the time being, lets enjoy the game!!

In 1970, Australia lost 4-0 to South Africa. Chappell scored 92 runs in 8 completed innings at a batting average of 11.50. Fortunately, for Chappell, South Africa was banned soon after.

well said, both of you. This guy would need 300 years to score 100 centuries, if his family members chip in..

Attacking Chappell is ridiculous. He is entitled to an opinion. He has made an excellent point and we are having a tough time swallowing the bitter truth. SRT should retire now! The 100th 100 is a bridge too far.

Anybody wud have reacted that way?
by seejo paul on Mar 05, 2012 10:20 AM  | Hide replies

He was looking for a quick single and Lee obstructed him pretending he dint see Tendulkar coming. Playing so much international cricket U need not luk around to understand the runner was coming for a run when u see the other started for a run. Also it was quite obvious that if not for Lee he could have completed the single. So one cannot blame Sachin for such a reaction. But the other things Chappel said was right that his failure to get his hundredth ton was not only affecting his batting but also the team as a whole.

I can very well understand that his 100th 100 is affecting his own batting... But how is it affecting the team as a whole?
Yadav is not taking wickets becoz of Sachin's 100?
Players are mis-fielding and dropping catches becoz of Sachin's 100?
It's not clear to me..

Very rightly said. Sehwag scored less than 100 runs in entire ODI series because of Sachin, Laxman scored almost nothing in the tests because of Sachin, Zak and co. failed to build pressure because of Sachin and the list goes on. People must realize that these players are professionals and everyone one of them is responsible for his own failure. Stop Blaming Sachin for everything!

I was not blaming Sachin for team's performance. I was just pointing out that the team as a whole loves and cares for him so much that the team as a whole gets irritated and desperate when Sachin couldnt complete his hundredth ton. Remember what Yuvi the man of the worldcup tournament said. He along with others wanted the win the worldcup for Sachin. So much the team cares him. If Sachin completes his next ton there would be a positive impact on not only Sachins batting but also the teams performance. I strongly believe he have still so much to contribute to the team.

However, when a player is constantly accorded star treatment on the field it starts to annoy other cricketers, and not necessarily only those in the opposition," said Chappell.Thats how he is degrading the team performance.

Well it is time for Tendulkar to hang his boots & Let the ambition of 100th 100 go. I would really be bad if player such a huge stature will be remembered for his downward days not for his achievements. He should let it go

Mate Ponting took 2 years before scoring a 100 and yet Aussies persisted with him. Its only been about 1 year since Sachin scored his 99th hundred. In between He was the 2nd top scorer on both England and Aus tours. Rohit Sharma, Raina and Jadeja performed equally bad and yet they are persisted with and that too when they have a very mediocre past record in international Cricket. Don't forget just 1 year ago Sachin was the Top scorer for India (2nd best in the tournament) in the World Cup. People have a very short memory.

Problem here is that after WC, Tendulkar is choosing which series and matches he wants to play, which is affecting the team setup... Look Manoj Tiwari has been made to sit out the whole series after a good series against Windies. Now thats crime, you have wasted a playing year of that guy and may be next time when he comes to play and fails, he may not get as many chances.

Moreover, for the similar kind of failures if Sehwag could be dropped, why not Tendulkar. He is not above the sport, is he... Also, do you think if any newcomer comes in and fails in the first year of his international outings he will get the same number of chances as Tendulkar... Highly questionable...

Now the question is not about whether he is legend or not. That's a different discussion altogether, but the team needs to move on. If we can have talks around dropping Dravid after one bad series same should apply to Tendulkar... Though his star status may earn him few more matched much to the woes of Indian cricket which is already in dumps...

Chappel's intention
by Pradip Rabindranath on Mar 05, 2012 10:11 AM

I am no great advocate of 10dulkar since times he should have retired. But let us not get carried away by what Chappell's mind games. He may seem incisive but deep down he is as rotten as his team mates who offer Phd in slandering.
