Sachin for Captain's post.
by Ramesh on Jan 28, 2012 12:29 PM  | Hide replies

It is high time that Sachin took over captaincy. Some people say that Sachin plays only for records and not for the country. If Sachin becomes Captain then nobody will say anything against him. Sachin has excelled as a player and has created countless records. But a common man cannot understand why he is not Captain. Why Sachin has to listen to Dhoni, etc who are all juniors to him? It is high time that Sachin's name as Captain came alongside the all-time great captains Clive Lloyd, Sir Vivian Richards, Imran Khan, etc. I don't understand why Sachin himself cannot become Captain. Why he has to play under juniors who have become Captains even though he is still in his prime?

Please someboady give him the statistics of Sachin's captaincy...

By not hitting his 100th ton, Sachin has ensured he will play in the next series as well and another couple of youngsters have lost to opportunity to develop.

Sachin must become Captain and he must be ready to take the blame if the team performs badly. Now Dhoni and Sehwag inspite of Sachin's presence in the team, have to take the blame for the humiliation caused by the Australians. When will Sachin excel as Captain? Soon he may retire without becoming Captain and without contributing to India as a great Captain which is what India needs badly.

Dhoni was selected as Captain again in 2011 and 2012, and he surpassed Sachin by achieving 8 straight defeats in overseas tours... :)

;-)... By your logic we must drop Virat Kohli - as he scored a century? :)

Also good to know that Sachin is equal to (if not better than) couple of youngsters... :)

Redeeming factor
by SHREESHA RANGANATH on Jan 28, 2012 12:15 PM

Only redeeming factor as I perceive is that the match lasted for 5 days atleast. It is time that the entire Indian team is overhauled with all the 'veterans'out of the team. Let Tendulkar end his career with 99 centuries, heavens will not cry.

He wants Indian team to perform badly in tests so that Indian fans will watch only IPL. After all he is the owner of Chennai Superkings. He should be blamed first. In fact he should not even remain BCCI chief because owning an IPL team means there is a conflict of interest.

Indian fans should not follow IPL. We need to hit them where it hurts. If there is no following, brand IPL could come down...

Ya, in fact I did not see a single match of last year's IPL because it happened right after the world cup and many players were forced to play in it even after being injured.

Wrong Case Study
by MeetFireWithFire on Jan 28, 2012 11:07 AM  | Hide replies

India NEVER in their 80 year cricketing existence have produced a fast bowler with a bowling average of less than 25 in test matches.

It is a myth or naive to imagine that pitches in INDIA are the reasons on why we could not have an intimidating fast bowler in our 80 year cricketing existence. Pitches in Pakistan and SriLanka are similar. But why is that they could have someone like Malinga or a Wasim Akram?

It has become a wrong case study for future teams to eumlate that INDIA won the World Cup with only batting prowess (and that too in tailored batting conditions...)

its a open secret that India cannot produce good fast bowlers....

We r the richest cricket board, have more population than all the cricketing countries put together, yet we cannot produce 1 good fast bowler....

The reason is our genes r good enough to have the physique of an intimidating pace bowler....

Our current best fast bowler is Vinay Kumar..

BCCI should force youngsters to take up fast bowling....

IPL has already killed fast bowling (simply put, the whole of bowling) in India. IPL is already making inroads in Indian Fielding and running between the wickets. The prime example is Sehwag who is reluctant to take singles and twos.

The new rules should be amended... THE IPL BIG BUCKS should first go to the fast bowling and then spinners and then finally the batsmen...

IPL has been there only since the last 4 years.
So why India could never produce a good pace bowler b4 that time????

Do u think we have the talent to produce a pace bowler like Curtly Ambrose....????

IPL has turned INDIAN bowling from BAD to WORSE.

We could have someone like Curtly Ambrose if we take Fast Bowling as career option. BCCI can encourage that by giving BIG bucks for Fast Bowlers.

Nobody can force anyone to take up fast bowling. You can only encourage fast bowling by making pitches. If we had prepared such pitches Sachin would have probably been trying to get his 50th ton now and everybody would have cried foul that there are not sixes and fours coming. Just like we get the govt we deserve, we get the pitches and players we deserve.

Not Accepted...
U dont know that doesnt meant India doesnt have fast bowlers..They Never came up becoz in India till late 90s Cricket wasnt for everybody after School Level...Deny Me!
Else Varun.Agarkar.Prabhakar.Nehra.Would never have come...Those players class, well I had a privilege to face couple Jaswant & Rajesh one was called 'Malcolm' Other 'Speed'.Man impeccable line and pace.Problem one was a Soldiers' son and other a Vegetable Vendor's..so Cricket was always their second priority..They played for every second school as a Borrow Player and despite such speed and flat grounds never ever stopped breaking heads, bats or Stumps...

Fast bowlers are produced by making green grass covered pitches. if those are made in India then we can produce genuine Fast bowlers but also have a fear of loosing at Home as the pitches will be more beneficial to visiting teams who play regularly on green wickets.
BCCI wants flat pitches so that they can churn out spinners and win over the visitors. only if India Wins can then they can make tons of Money.

Not because of the Feelings and unwanted emotions it brought out of short sighted, short memoried my brethren....
Not Because of the Way we were beaten..infact Surrendered..But because of the Unlearnings we never do post any series in Australia..
It isnt Laxman Dravid Dhoni that failed..its our Short Sightedness that re-birthed..I nvr recall in my life time(82-Till Date) India doing wonders Down Under(other than in couple of Tests or ODI Series)...We need to Improve BIG TIME...We have Pitches we R Spoiling them...Guwahati/Mohali(Now Dead)/Hyderabad(Rajiv Gandhi Stdm)/Dharmshala(again Spoilt)/Ranchi(inauguratn next Mnth)...these r real Australia kinda ground just make Pitches better there..have domestic matches there...
It will not only bring the best skills but also Test the Temperament..which believe me isnt visible in any1 coming next.
Dhoni is the best things that has happened in Indian Cricket believe me as he believes his instincts and his each and every compatriot/team member...I m not asking alms for him but am asking Trust him..he was the captain when We won T20 WC,No.1 Ranking in ODI and Tests,And Above all WC..Everything is not Luck and if it is better hold that Mascot with you and Pray rather than Blame.
