what about present
by MAHESHA R on Jan 19, 2012 10:44 AM

if evry1 thinks about future, what about present people, they too need classic games, its all in the lower level, if u have foundation right the future will be great for cricket, if the quality is kept upto par @ state level, or in domestic level, we can select more 11 national teams to perform on behalf of India...........basics need to be perfect, ,,,, years past so many came & gone, classic players like Sachin, Dravid, Lakshman stayed......... gangoly lost his place due idiot BCCI's politics, now the money making idea of This Stuppid BCCI will classic cricket in its heaven..............

Pitch condition & age factor
by vasu dev on Jan 19, 2012 10:32 AM

i completly agree with Mr.Amit Verma .

Any test team means , the player selected should posses the quality of the batting order he bats in . Remember the great opening players ,like Gordon grenrigde , Desmonnd Haynes , Roy fedricks , the bowlers never dared to pitch them short deliveries . The ball would land in the spectators stand .

How about making some decent pitches?
by Amit Verma on Jan 19, 2012 10:08 AM

Soup song, flop song...cool boys, cool. No one will talk about the real reason for India's debacle...flop pitches. I remember seeing a Ranji final in early '80s. Pitch was so slow, batsmen were adjusting their shots with all the time in the world. Score 600-700 runs at home, bowled out for under 200 abroad.
Why is this? Simple answer really. The spectators in India don't care about cricket, they want a batting 'tamasha'. Sehwag scores 200 , Yuvraj hits 6 sixes etc, etc. No one is interested in a decent game with competitive bowling. So the state boards in collusion with BCCI have kept the pitches in a state of coma, promoting high scoring one-day internationals and T20s.
Result of this is extremely poor reflexes and athleticism on part of Indians. I have been watching cricket of >30 years, never once did I feel confident that Indians would do well on foreign pitches, same old story...tentative pokes outside off, jumping around to bouncers etc. Same reason we never have more than one good fast bowler.
Unfortunately, until management at the top changes, no improvement is possible at the ground level. And given that the BCCI top echelons are always manned by former players, who themselves played their whole career on dead pitches, I just don't envision that happening anytime soon.

Age is no bar. It is all about performance. If you can perform better than others , you have every right to play and do your job.whether you are 41 or 21, you are performing at highest level and only criteria should be performance and not age.

You need a Aakash chopra or Parthiv patel. just check the records and you will find these 2 played crucial sacrificial role in 2003 series. aaksh played out the new ball and PArthiv would score 30-40 and give consume fiery spells.

i agree with u to some extent.age is no bar.But still 38,39 is over the hill.I agree if it is 35,36.sachin,dravid,laxman should go.we need to build team for future.kohli has performed.we need a new nuclues.that's the way it works.when we grow lod we also retire.for cricket its max 36,37.
